I've been lurking on the PS forums for several months now and the knowledge gained has been invaluable. Thank you all very much for this great resource and online community. I figured it was time to give back a little and everyone loves pictures, right? So here goes....
At the beginning of the year I started the search for the center stone for my girlfriend's engagement ring. The ring and proposal will be a surprise to her but I had a pretty good idea of what she wants from comments she has made in the past, a few innocent questions here and there, etc. After six weeks of searching and looking at dozens of radiant shape diamonds, I found the one. Here are the specs:
Carat weight: 3.62
Certificate: GIA
Color: F
Shape: Radiant
Clarity: VS2
Depth: 72.4%
Girdle: Thin-Slightly Thick
Table: 59%
Culet: None
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
L/W/D (mm): 8.86 x 8.62 x 6.24
The ring will be platinum with two brilliant cut trapezoid side stones, 0.54cttw, and sixteen 0.06ct rounds on the band in shared prong settings. The goal is to minimize the amount of metal visible.
I received some pictures of the ring as it's being made. It's still very unfinished. Stones all have to be set, prongs shortened and filed (double claw prongs on the center and single on the side stones), holes in the band for the sixteen rounds, everything polished, cleaned, etc.
Here are a couple of pictures of the unfinished ring and center stone (in desperate need of a wipe down) I received from the jeweler. The ring should be finished next week and I'll post some pictures of the final product then!
