Have any of you heard about this story out of Austraiia? I am hoping it shows up on snopes as false, but apprently it was on 60 minutes in Australia. The morning show I listen to hear in ATL talked about it today. Here is the link:

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23511369-421,00.html

Apparently the woman was estranged from her father and they met up again later in life and had romantic feelings for each other and became a couple!! They had TWO children. One died from a heart defect and the other is a little girl called Celeste.

This is unbelieveable! And according to what they reported on air, the man''s wife did not want to lose her husband or the daughter, so she offered to let the daughter move in to SHARE the husband/father!

What the heck! Madness!!!

Oh that''s twisted! I feel bad for the kids.

That''s disgusting...

So it''s not as if they didn''t know they were father and daughter - they absolutely knew!!!
Why? Why? Why? did they choose to have children?

I''m lost for words.....

There was a "similar" story in UK which came out a couple of months ago when a brother and sister were separated at birth, met later having no idea that they were related, married THEN found out they were bro/sis - that is so horrible for them, but at least no kids invovled.

I know, its so disturbing. I think they are facing criminal charges at this point. The poor little child!

I saw the Australia story on the news - they actually interviewed the couple, so it''s a true story.

Pretty disgusting, IMHO.

Something similiar happened in Germany. The siblings didn't meet until their early 20s and when they did, they feel in love knowing they were siblings. They have 3 kids and the government keeps punishing them for it and each time they have another kid. So sick. It only took a few generations of that to wipe out the Spanish Hapsbergs, incest is nasty stuff.

Don't get me started on Woody Allen. His wife was adpoted by him and then he revoked it and they married. Being the parent to a child for 19 years and then deciding to sleep with them is even sicker in some ways.

It was so sad for the UK couple. How totally devastating to find something like that out - not only do you loose the person you are in love with, but you have to rethink all your feelings and deal with society''s taboos.

It''s very normal for siblings who don''t know they are related to be attracted to each other - living together as siblings creates the psychological barriers that prevent incest, but they are not there if they meet later in life unknowingly.

I saw that story --- really gross and VERY disturbing, my husband actually watched the show and said everyone at his work was talking about it the next day. The mother/wife did not agree with it or move in with them. Here''s the story/tv clip -- but as mentioned, it is very disturbing, I feel bad for her children (she also has two other children by a previous marriage 9 & 14)

This has been huge news in Australia oveer the past few days. Sure, you can''t help how you feel when you first meet someone, but you CAN do something about acting on those feelings!

The really bad thing about this is that I am sure that this would not be an isolated case.

Yuck, that''s so twisted and sick.

Yeah. That made me naseous. ICK. I had to stop listening. My stomach literally clenched.

They aren''t LIKE the ''accidental'' couples. THEY BOTH KNEW THEY WERE FATHER AND DAUGHTER when they started their relationship. *HUGE GROSSED OUT SHUDDER*

Nope it is real unfortunately I feel very sorry for there 2 daughters the one that died from a congenital disease and the one still living. It is sick and disgusting

I have to say, I hadn't seen the story or been aware of it until now - I've just watched the link and I'm in absolute disgust.
Even if this silly woman had some sort of crush on her DAD, he as the supposedly more mature adult should've been man enough to deny any supposed attraction to his DAUGHTER. Lets look at this way - if she were 20 years younger he'd be in jail for this. Why should it be any different just because this woman is clearly sick..Lock them both up and take that poor little girl away from them. She should have the right to grow up in a normal family without the stigma that is going to follow her for her whole life. Not to mention the 2kids from a previous r'ship - I'd really like to know child service's position on this!? I also feel very sorry for the ex wife.
Apologies if anybody thinks I'm being a bit harsh, but I find this Extremely distasteful and am ashamed its happened in australia.
Shame on both of them.

Reading these bizzare stories, they always seem to happen on ''the other side of the world'', or anywhere but near... it''s disturbing knowing it happened one state over!!!

Makes me wanna puke.

And wouldn''t one think that after having one baby who clearly died of a congenital disorder, they might not consider going back for a second one due to the genetic game they were playing?! Apparently not

Thanks Lorelei.
I just don''t understand how, with Soooo many different and wonderful people in the world - two people would decide that their "special one" has to be their Daughter/Dad??!! I do believe that there is "someone for everyone", but this is Not It!!

And the Dad grinning about their "fantastic" sex life?? - made me wanna puke. What a creep.

As the reporter said, they insist there are no victims of their union - wtf!!? What about the poor baby that died before it had a chance, due to the incestual birth defects? What do they call that? And then to get pregnant again - I think they are two completely selfish people, foremost interested in their own seemy gratification.
I wish my country had harder laws such as with the couple in the UK who are now facing life prison if they keep hooking up..
Does anybody really believe for a second that the dad and daughter couple are not sleeping together anymore? Not me, for one..

Again, sorry for the rant..Just really irked me badly

Yeah it''s real and it''s totally gross. I can''t tell who is the sicker of the two...

Are they out of their MINDS?!

I watched the interview and I cannot believe what I heard. The father knew how wrong it was and her decided to have a physical relationship with her because he decided that he didn''t want to see her and his daughter anymore?! But she IS!!! And then they go on saying how they''re not hurting anyone and it''s a normal family, yadda yadda yadda... Are you kidding me?! What about the child who died? They just act like it''s normal! It''s NOT!!! The children themselves don''t realize how it''s going to affect them, and of course they don''t. They''re children. That poor 14-year-old girl says she''s going to have a normal relationship someday and I truly hope she will, but I wouldn''t be surprised if she never did. I am terribly angry for Celeste, too. There is absolutely no way she can have a normal psycho-affective development. And the sex talk... I wanted to throw up. Sorry folks, but it IS black and white. Some normal people may happen to have feelings for a relative at some point, as the psychotherapist in the interview pointed out, but normal people don''t act on it. Period.

I am so angry and disgusted!!!

I have just watched the follow up story to this and the reporter said they have never had such a strong reaction in their "mailbag" section than to this story.
The consensus in the emails they read out was very simliar to what has been expressed here - disgust and concern for the children.

I still can''t believe their attitude though - after the story came out, someone threw a rock through their car window. The dad says quote "This is not the Australian Way"...WHAT??!! I said out loud to my Fi - Since when is incest the "australian way""??!!???
Not only sick, but also hypocrites it would seem.

Jeepers. That''s...wow. Excuse me while I try not to turn green.

As for the siblings who didn''t know,though---I almost think they should stay together, with genetic testing and careful prenatal screening. They do not have the relationship that creates the incest taboo, they are not "brother and sister," so I am not sure what is wrong with it. But of course it would be way too hard now that everyone knows.

This is wrong on so many levels.... The father should be imprisoned and the daughter needs serious counseling. One link stated that the family was so poor that network had to buy clothes for the interview. It was also stated that John is an alcoholic. There is no way that the three innocent children should be left in that home.

I had to turn it off. I really got the creeps when the dad was talking about their private life. Ugh.

This is gross...
