we had our e-pic yesterday and early on, i got the shock of my life when they told me that the photographer we originally booked is no longer with the company!!!

i''m pissed because they waited until yesterday, the day we were doing our e-pic, to tell us that!!!

even then, they didn''t actually told me, the person who was doing my make-up just slipped !!! i was like, "so, is ******* here?" and the make-up artist said "oh, you didn''t know? you''ll have someone else. ******** is not with us anymore. your account rep will speak to you about that after you get back from the session". believe me when i say that "SHOCKED" is an understatement!!! (sorry if i''m using a lot of "!") i just wanted to cry! good thing FI was there and he calmed me down!

since we were already there and we DID take off from work for that day, we gave the replacement guy a chance. we figured, there''s a reason out there why ****** wasn''t with us. i''m happy to say that we have chemistry with the photog all throughout the e-pic session.

we were supposed to go to only 1 location but he sneaked in another site. i could tell he was "click-happy" and wasn''t being cheap in taking shots. at the end of the session, we were told that he took about 700+ photos! he also said he normally allocates 2 full cards for e-pic shoots but he ended up using another card just for us - so 3 cards all-in-all!

when FI & i got back to the photog office to talk about the sudden change, our rep was NOWHERE to be found and everyone was busy!

we asked to see the replacement guy''s portfolio and the samples were too few! granted that 3 of his shots were currently on display in their office window, but the samples were like 20 photos tops! and only 5 photos popped out for me. (i''m very picky with photos!). i also went through other photog''s portfolio and nothing was popping out!

i''m soooooo worried!!! they''ve arranged for us to come back in 10 days to see our e-pic photos and they will also prepare an extensive portfolio for the replacement guy. i''m hoping that he is really good!!!

right now, i''m VERY worried and actually feeling sick in my stomach. the MAIN reason why we booked with this company is because of that SPECIFIC photographer - he was the one who did all my friends/cousins weddings in the past and he is REALLY good. we booked wayyyyy in advance just to get their best photog and he''s not there anymore! the paranoid side in me is saying, we''ll get the last pick of their photogs list because all the senior photogs are booked! gawd. i''m getting teary-eyed here.

i know the boards has been slow lately (where IS everyone?) but i sure need a lot of PS DUST!!!!

I''m so sorry this is happening to you! Did your contract specify that your photog would be shooting your wedding? If so, you may be able to get your money back and book someone else you are just as happy with.

Then again, maybe you will LOVE your e-pics and be really happy with this new photog. ***Lots of DUST***

Is there any way you can track down the old photographer and see if you can still book him? Just a thought. Try Google - you never know. He may still be freelancing or with another company, or something.

Ditto this. You never know, the newbie may be just as good, but it won''t hurt to check. And make sure the contract does state something like, "In case of photographer A''s absence, photographer B steps in." Because that could have happened the day of the wedding anyway, if your original got sick or something, they have to have a backup.

Definitely look at your contract and see if your photographer''s name is on it.

We had a similar problem with the photographer that took our e-pics. We signed a contract to have her shoot our e-pics and wedding, but the contract stipulated, "Photographer - LastName" and we initially didn''t think anything of it, we thought that was perfect. Our e-pics were gorgeous and we absolutely loved them...then our photographer got deployed! When we tried to go back for our money, they stated that they would send the original photographer''s husband (who is a DJ and not a photographer!) to shoot our destination wedding! They have the same last name so we ended up losing our deposit when we cancelled because WE breached the contract, not them! They said that he was perfectly willing to shoot our wedding and we were the ones backing out.

In the end, we didn''t care, we found another photographer and we love our wedding photos, but I could have used the extra $500 from the deposit for other wedding expenses.

Good Luck with your photographer!
