What a hectic day! Just when I was getting ready for company and the football game the jewelry store calls and says the ring is in. After thinking all of, oh, two seconds I say to hub, "I have to go get my ring. If I don''t get it today they aren''t open again until Tues." I tell him to help DD get ready for the game and I would meet them there. I drove the hour to the jewelry store, picked up the ring and was at the game 30 minutes after it started. I have to say, it was very hard staying focused on the game when all I wanted to do was sneak peaks at my ring!! Anyway, company followed us back to the house. By the time they left it was dark and not good conditions to take pictures. Plus, I can''t figure out which setting is macro on my Olympus Camedia camera (no flower picture). I don''t know how to make the picture show up. I hope this link works.

It has an AGS document. Is that as good as GIA?? Anyway, here are the stats (which I don''t understand much but I know you all do!).

1.76
H
VS1
table 54.8%
Crown angle 34.5
depth 62.4
measurements 7.68 - 7.72 x 4.80 mm

Is that everything? After the first three stats all I can go on is a diagram of the diamond but it doesn''t say what these numbers are. I think I figured out the table, depth and crown angle.

I''ve been really studying it because I''m not convinced it sparkles as much as my orginial ering (stats below) but the setting is the HOF Wondrous (which is GORGEOUS) but...the bottom of the diamond is totally covered. So, if it wasn''t, would the diamond sparkle more because there would be more light? I apologize for really not knowing too much about this.
Original ering - which I get to keep!!! - haven''t decided what to do - rhr or pendant. Stats:
1.08
J
VS2
table 56%
crown angle - can''t find it
depth 61.7%
Girdle thin to slightly thick
measurements 6.59 - 6.63 x 4.08 MM This is a GIA report from 1993.

I''ve had my 1.08 (Lazare) for 10 years, I KNOW it sparkles. I''ve only had this one for a couple of hours (also a Lazare) - it''s beautiful for sure - but not convinced of it''s performance (but I think I have sentimental reasons for prefering the 1 carat). Thanks for looking!

OMG bae....it''s beautiful!!!

You''d better figure out your macro and post about a zillion more pictures!

Thanks Widget!!!

I can do "properties" and all that but I think I am missing the last step to get the picture to show up instead of the link.

Very nice! Congrats. I have an olympus and the macro sucks. I just put it on auto, turn off the flash and take 100 pics. At least 2 usually come out ok. Mine is an older version. Mayby santa will put a canon in my stocking this year.

~~It''s beautiful!!! Got any more pics???

I guess I was a little critical of my new bauble yesterday. I was viewing it all day, outside. Today it just seems to be sparkling even more (I think I''m a little sentimental about my original diamond). Anyway, I can post the link - I must be missing the last thing for making the picture show up. I hope Widget shows up again to help.

It''s gorgeous, I love it. Congrats!!!

Wow what a beauty!!!! Love the split shank, the exquisite melee work, and that gorgeous stone!

that''s a very lovely ring.
Love that split shank.

it seem like a very nice rock. Look on the diamgram of the diamond and see what "spots" the diagram shows, i.e. crystals, feathers, line etc. You should have a pretty clear rock under magnification that is very few spots.
check this site for their education on diamonds. They are pretty great with education about what all the stats mean.
Also check Gia ed.com
Gia and AGS run pretty much the same, but EGL is below the former two mentioned.
Also this site has the HCA chart where you can put your diamonds specs in to see where it would fall with their specifications, the site is really neat and fun to learn with.

Good luck and send some pics so we can ohhhh and ahhhhh about your bling bling

your ring is gorgeous!! I love the split shank and it appears to be very well made. If you don''t mind me asking, who made this amazing creation?

Wow, that is a gorgeous setting and beautiful diamond! (And I might be biased because mine is very close to it!) I wish I had looked at the Hearts on Fire settings, but I guess I thought that they were only sold with HOF diamonds. Hope you'll post more pictures!

Beautiful! I love the split shank!

bae, your ring is just lovely!

And yes, you need to spend time with it. It probably won''t do what your other did, but that''s not unusual, they all have their own personalities. Just embrace it and enjoy, it''s a beautiful stone!

So pretty!!! Congratulations!!

Thank you all!!

Kcoursolle - it is the Hearts on Fire Wondrous setting. If I had not seen it in a store, I probably would not have ordered it. In the catalog it looks very busy to me (and even a little with my pics). But just looking at it, without zooming in with a camera, it just looks like an amazing, sparkling band.

Ellen - I laughed when I read your post. You''re right, you really need to spend time and get to know your diamond. Today I have been totally falling in love with it. Even my husband, who is NOT into jewelry, said he thought it was a beautiful ring. I think he is proud that he could buy it for me.

My neighbors had me over for dinner tonight (hub & DD went to visit his Mom while I worked today) along with a couple of cadets. I was embarrassed when half way through dinner my friend stops and says, "I am sorry, but your ring is TOTALLY distracting!" She said it was on fire. When the others left the room I asked her to put it on so I could see what it looked like. OMG - if you talk with your hands it looks like a kalaidescope (sp) of light trailing with the movement of the hand.

I''ll try and get some hand shots - that has been harder. My camera doesn''t want to focus on the ring.

Holy COW! That is a gorgeous ring. The detail you got on the milgraining is amazing.

Congratulations!

Oh my! Oh my! I must admit, I am an asscher/emerald cut girl....but boy would I trade everything I owned for that ring...and that SETTING is just perfect! WOW!

Very pretty-- more photos please!
