I don't post or browse RT often, the last time was when I was in the market for an OEC about 0.8ct which was my only significant diamond purchase in 15 years!

However, I was in Amsterdam on business recently and stayed longer for leisure as a tourist.

While on the bus, I saw in passing a diamond museum, and decided to go there and had a look (it was not free). I then discovered it was next to Royal Coster Diamonds that I had never heard of, and decided to pop in to have a look too as it was free entry.

I then discovered they had a named diamond called the "Royal 201" with 201 facets (!!!), and the display of a large replica next to a MRB showed it was a lot more sparkly than the MRB.

However, this is completely new to me, and thought I should ask in RT if anyone knows about this named diamond with significantly more facets than a MRB.

Apparently, the Royal 201 can only be purchased from Royal Coster and nowhere else, not sure if this is true or not.

The tour was interesting as they had a display involving their cutter who held the Guinness Book of Records for cutting the tiniest MRB!!!

This sounds interesting! I haven’t heard of it. Do you have a picture? Sounds like a fascinating day!

Nope, I did not take many photos, sorry!

What did you think of it @dk168 ? Would you buy one?

These stones with the extra facets just look too busy to me. I do not tend to like this look. However, I have never spent
any time with a stone like this so my mind could be changed if it performed in a way that I really liked.

No. I don't like MRBs as they are already too busy for me compared with OECs.

I did not have the opportunity to see a larger size close up, only the smaller ones below 1ct already set while I was at Royal Costa.

I have been to the diamond museum and I know about Royal Coster. Always love looking at sparkles ;)2 I’m in NL, so yeah we see their marketing and such

Video from Facebook in case folks want to see performance.

IMHO I've never liked these cuts (I think some were in the US from a different company a few years ago). They look splintery to me, and remind me of moissanite with the resulting fire. No knock on folks who like this cut--just giving my opinion!

20ct+ wow, 1ct blah.
Just my opinion.

It's EU we are talking about where ordinary jewellery is very expensive to start with.
