When you decide to have a destination wedding which requires flying, how do you get your wedding gown there? I just can''t see it fitting in the overhead compartment and I just have nightmares about it going in with the luggage. So, how do you get it there?? If h2b and I decide to travel somewhere I want to make sure it actually gets there and in one piece!

even though i didnt have a destination wedding, but i did buy my dress from outside bahrain and had to fly it back in. I just took it with me on the airplane (in its big poofy plastic covering), and the flight attendent took it from me and hung it inside one of those coat closets...its true that he had to sort of fold it in half to have it fit in there, but i didn''t mind a few creases as long as i was at peace that my dress was only a few feet away from me...

Oh, I could live with that. I was just worried about it being in the way if I were able to bring it on the plane OR that someone would decide to take it home with them if it had to go in with the luggage. I''d rather FedEx it to myself than do that, lol.

Thanks so much

I feel better about it.

I just read an article in some wedding **** about just that topic! They said to take it as carry -on and ask the attendant to hang it in the first class coat closet, most ppl are happy to do so if they have room. Where is you destination wedding?

Oh, how cool that it was just covered. I''m surprised I didn''t see it!

As far as where we''ll have it I have no idea. We''ve been throwing around a few ideas. On a cruise ship right before it sets out from Key West or maybe even Alaska because he''s always wanted to go..but if we decide something like that it''ll completely throw my dress choices out the window because then I''ll need something warmer.

OR, right here in NC. Maybe at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. I just don''t know yet. Its starting to feel overwhelming and I''ve just started.

Not a wedding dress, but I had to travel with a bridesmaid one...I just told the person outside the gates, she said it wouldnt be a problem, when I got on the plane, gave a really nice smile and asked the first attendant to greet me, and it was like as soon as I mentioned a wedding she was happy to help. They just hung it up in the first class cabin and there were no problems

I don''t think Southwest has a closet on their plane, do they? Because I will probably be flying with them for second reception, and I don''t really know what to do with the dress.
