*and breath*

I hate this crap. Soon someone is going to be sueing because they dont want to breathe oxygen any more. The last paragraph says it all about todays society...

It is a curious thing, and it seems to be verging on epidemic — people refusing to accept responsibility for their own actions. If something bad happens to you, even if it happened because you did something beyond your abilities or plain foolish, blame somebody else. Nothing is your fault.

ok... curiosity is killing me. whats going on here????

If you click on the flaming mad icon Lord Summerisle made, you are taken to a link from the Toronto Star about a guy suying everything under the sun because he hurt himself mountain biking.

Here is the link.

Sorry... should have made the link clearer.

its one thing to sue if the pothole was in the middle of a city street where one would expect improved surfaces.....but on a trial!!!! i soooooo agree with the

(fyi: most universities and cities have been forced to replace drain grates in streets to ones that will not swallow a bike tire and cause such accidents because of legal risks)

I''m all for executing these types of people.. They contribute nothing to society as a whole and are just a drain on what good there is out there..
I agree!! He obviously is without one ounce of common sense. I see no reason to monetarily reward him for his stupidity. I also see no reason to punish other people (with common sense!) who enjoy the trails.

I am also tired of people NEVER taking responsibility for what they do and always blaming someone else for their misfortunes. This is an epidemic!

so, how do you think people got the notion they don''t have to be personally responsible for their actions? just curious..... i have my own theory but would love to hear yours.

don''t blame the lawyers: their job is to do what the client wants, much like a cpa''s job is to get you out of paying taxes, etc.

don''t blame the courts: their job is to hear cases and interpret law.

don''t blame juries: their job as a peer is to decide based on the evidence and the law.

so since we''re talking about individual responsibility, what is it thatmakes these individuals think they don''t have to be personally responsible and its ok to go to an attorney in the first place?

peace, movie zombie

My thoughts….

First off I agree. The blame is on the individual….and I don’t hold the lawyer or others responsible. They are just going their jobs to the best of their abilities.

As to what I think might influence someone to act in this manner. Well it could be a few mindsets.

1. Arrogance and a "can do no wrong" attitude. Someone who is simply always right in their own mind… no matter what. So if something bad happened to them, it was clearly the fault of others… and they should be compensated for said incontinences.

2. Perpetual victim. Someone who see the rest of the world is out to get them. And they are going to protect themselves in any way possible.

3. “why not” Someone who was dumb enough to fall off a bike and injure themselves and thinks: Why not try and get something along the way.

…..those would be the personalities that I see doing such things. any others...
