IMG_2772.jpg IMG_2771.jpg Came across someone who has some leftover from a project. I recently bought s light pink spinel and I'm thinking of doing a five stone ring down the line.

Thoughts on these? The larger pair are about 2.9mm and are more blue and the smaller are 2.8mm and more green. They are eye clean per the seller. What would be a fair price for a pair?

Thanks for any and all thoughts!

I LOVE kornerupine. These look to be the harder to find nice blue/green ones that are from Africa (may even exhibit a hint of lavender at some angles IRL?). The pictures show the pleochroism that makes kornerupines so interesting. Yvonne Raley carries kornerupines and you can use those as a comparison for pricing. From what I have seen, the bluer ones are a bit more valued...but it's really what you prefer. I think they make great side stones for soft pinks, lavender, etc..Do you have a picture of your pink spinel?

IMG_2750.JPG Thanks lilmosun, I have only seen very saturated kornerupine so I wasn't sure if these looked at all good. My pink spinel is really light, I only have one pic handy for now, I'm thinking maybe of very pale blue, green or yellow with the spinel.

Those are really pretty! They remind me of unheated, pleochroic tanzanite.

Okay here is a question I didn't think of. Hardness wise am I better off with a spinel or sapphire? It would be great to have a rare stone but not if the durability is going to be an issue. If I did a ring with the Kornerupine am I better off the bezel set the stones rather than prong set them?

ETA: If you were going to pick a pair out of these would you go for the blue or the greener ones?

WOW! I haven't even heard of this gem. Looks great. I must search for it.
