So I found a dress online that was such an incredible deal I had to buy it, even though I''m not getting married for 1.5 yrs. It''s a Maggie Sottero Mariella... I know other people have posted pics of it on this board. Anyway, it arrived in the mail while we were away for the holidays, and so when we got home I was very anxious to try it on, but knew that it would be a two person job. But the next morning, I just HAD to try it on after FI went to work.... and I seriously thought I could manage on my own... but I couldn''t!

I got so STUCK!! With my hands in the air, waist of the dress stuck on my shoulders, glasses knocked off, standing on a foot stool in my bathroom b/c dress is too long and I didn''t want it to touch the floor. I had apparently failed to loosen the corset part enough to get it all the way over my head! It would not budge! I thought I was going to be stuck there all day, and FI was going to find me there 8 hours later when he got back from work!

Eventually I managed to grab hold of the hang loopy things, and wiggle my way out of it. I loosened the corset more, and tried it on again w/o any mishaps... and I really like it!

Remember friends don''t let friends try on dresses unsupervised!!

LOL!

LizzieC, you made my day with that story! Thanks for sharing! I''d have loved to have been a fly on the wall.

I''ve tried on my dress alone too, but I just held the back together instead of lacing it, and tried to take pictures with the self-timer (the woman at the dress shop took stinky pics, and I didn''t have any of my girlfriends there with me.) It was a fiasco. The saddest thing of all was that I was only taking pictures to post here! Hard to explain that one to my friends and family. I''m sure that I was a sight to see, dress held together in the back, setting the timer, trying to skp into view of the camera. Needless to say, none came out.

When you get a chance (and the help of a friend) post pics of you in your lovely dress! Mariella is a gorgeous Maggie.

LOL....that so sounds like something that would have happened to me!

Now you have to do htis all over again so we can see pics of you in your dress!

I once got stuck in a dress when trying on dresses for Prom.. but I would think that you should probably step into a wedding gown!

I got stuck in mine when I tried it on at the dress shop after the order came in. I hadn''t loosened it enough. I was probably stuck for almost 10 minutes. I was in the dressing room alone, but I didn''t want to yell for help. On the wedding day I think I might have all the laces taken out and just step into the dress. Then my mom can spend the half hour trying to retie it!

That''s hilarious....glad you got out of it. Or are you still stuck in it?????

Your dress is beautiful!

Yup, that''s what all the bridal salons told me and what I did for every fitting and on the wedding day. The store where I bought my Maggie told me to unlace the back completely every time I took it off to avoid ripping the loops when I shimmy in and out of the dress.

Great story Lizzie! I went gown shopping alone one day and had to stand in the doorway of my dressing room holding the gown up to cover myself and flag down the lady "helping" me.

OMG, Lizzie, I''m literally laughing out loud! The same thing happened to me! My dress is Maggie''s Tayla & extremely similar in style & construction to your Mariella. I got mine on eBay & couldn''t wait to try it on when I got it in the mail. (to see how it looked & confirm the size was correct, etc.) Well, I didn''t loosen the corset either & got stuck too! I was jumping around w/ my hands over my head making little squealing noises & whimpering, "stuck" over & over. My FI was in the other room & I came perilously close to asking him to help me, but finally managed to wiggle out of it. I had to ask a friend fo come over a few days later to help me try it on & lace it up. The wait was killing me!

Good luck getting into your dress & please post pics of you in it when you''re all laced up!

hehehe, too funny! I always step into the gowns when trying them on too. I think there would be less chance of mishaps this way (though it''s easy to lose your balance and fall over in a too-large sample gown, so maybe not

That is so funny! LOL!

LOL . . . the visual is sooooo funny. I can completely relate, as I''ve been totally stuck in a couple of Christmas party gowns because I was too excited to wait for help unzipping me.

As far as the pic goes, she got stuck in the dress . . . I think asking Lizzie to set the timer, set it on a flat surface, and actually get a pic of her posed, while not catching her running away from the camera might be asking for a baaad situation. Hehe.

Lizzie, because of you, I''m asking a friend to help me in and OUT of my dress when it arrives.

Yes stepping INTO the dress... that makes a lot of sense! I''ll try that next time, and I''ll try to get a couple of pics... with someone''s assistance!

that''s the funniest post i''ve read in a long while! Too cute! i can so see you stuck in your dress-in my head. i''m laghing out loud!

. E-bay can be just as addicting as PS I think!!

stepping into the dress is a very good idea

. Much less chance of getting stuck. The folks at the first bridal shop I went to helped me try everything on (they were terrific)...so I thought it can''t be that hard. Every other store I went to just left me by myself...jeez trying on gowns yourself is not easy at all.

Can''t wait to see pictures of you in it.
