Thinking About a Wedding Gift for Her...

So the fiancee has a killer rock and her dream setting but I am thinking about her wedding day gift. To be quite honest I have not yet made my mind up 100% about what to get her so I am looking for ideas and inspiration.

I got a teaser email that had an amethyst necklace and matching earrings for what seemed like reasonable money. What mostly caught my eye is her favorite color is purple and that was the color of these items.

One of our wedding colors is a light purple, called wisteria I believe. I apologize up front as I'm a guy and wisteria has zero meaning to me so it's just light purple in my world.

Anyhow, she loves different shades of purple as well. While not the right color the same BGD teaser ad also had a blue tanzanite in the same jewelry setting. I liked the cutting and facets of that stone better. As you are probably beginning to gather I have no idea about anything on colored gemstones other than I'm sure the color is the #1 attribute.

So I'm looking for some help and guidance to different options. While I did go the BGD super ideal route for her stone and custom DK setting, we are bleeding money on the wedding itself and I'd like to find a gorgeous, eloquent yet economical gift that makes her feel like the beautiful and awesome woman she truly is.

What got me thinking about this:

Link to a sapphire I saw that is labeled as a pink but more along the lines of the light purple color she has picked as one of the wedding colors. I'm not ready to pull the trigger as I'm not sure about the shape, size and that inclusion drives me crazy. Really just an example of the color if I decide to go that light.

The setting style may need changed to better compliment her ring. Reposting the video for those that haven't seen yet.

I can't help with specific options but I think the earrings and pendant are a great idea! And maybe have DK do it again.

My wedding day gift from one of my best friends was a triple strand of pearls. I wore it to my reception because my ceremony jewelery was covered by my precious Aunt. But I'm not sure how you or your lady feel about pearls. :)

I love the idea of matching your wedding colors. What a sweet souvenir of the day! I hear you on the costs...weddings get out of control so easily. The amethysts are gorgeous and very wearable!

Simple, elegant, light purple amethyst with diamond accents. Something she can wear for years. 20181108_184122.png20181108_184104.png

If you want to match with the wedding colors lavender pearls could be a nice option...classic with a twist. Or depending on her taste maybe something like carved amethyst or lavender jade.

I love the Brian Gavin set you’ve posted especially in the rich purple. Typically I am not into purple stones, I have a blue sapphire myself, but I think the purple is gorgeous for the set and prefer it over the blue pendant. Perhaps DK can make you something similar with your own twist on it?

I prefer blue for daily jewellery- something about blue feels practical and classic to me. But purple just “feels” romantic and special and I think it is the perfect choice for such a special day.

HI:

Get her the gift of "of her opinion and choice" . People choose their gifts all the time. Allow her the choice and let her surprise you.

cheers--Sharon

Yes to this. My dh chose a beautiful necklace for his wedding day gift to me. Turned out I did not love it and it was pricey. Luckily they let us return it when we got back from our honeymoon a month later. And I chose something much more suitable to my aesthetic. No matter how well you know your FI when it comes to bling you can always be surprised and it is best (generally) to let your SO do the choosing. You can ask her to give you a few choices and you can surprise her that way or you can give her a gift certificate to her favorite store. Lots of different options. Good luck and cannot wait to see what you both decide.

The first stone that came to my mind when you mentioned wisteria was Rose de France amethyst. I don’t see precision cut RDF very often anymore, but this one was recently posted and I think it would look amazing set in a pendant by DK
