It's been a LONG time since I posted here -- at least 10 years! I have a gorgeous Mark Morrell engagement ring and band...now it's time to think about our next sparkly purchase after 17 years of marriage, a lot of hard work between the 2 of us, and 2 kids!

My ring is a size 8, 1.14 ct solitaire.

What size stones would complement in a shared prong eternity band. How many carats - thinking between 3-5? and average cost? I know that varies, but I saw 1 in Long's Jewelers and it was $24,000 -- I thought that was a lot, but as I said -- it's been a while. If that's the case, we have college in a few years so this may have to wait!

Thanks all!

Hello! Do you have a picture of your ring on your hand? I’m thinking a 3mm eternity band may probably pair well. And 24k sounds like A LOT!

I love a very thin (like 1.5mm) eternity band to complement a solitaire, or a thicker one (like 3-4mm) to wear alone.

24k sounds crazy! I have two bands on a size 7 finger. One is 3mm ish (1.76 ct) and one is a bit over 4mm (20 pointers each but I left 2 out for a sizing bar, would be about 3.4 ct for all the way around). Check out Whiteflash and Brian Gavin Diamonds for vendors who have ideal cut smaller diamonds for something like this. It’ll be great quality and def not 24k! Mine was a little over 7k for the 3ct. I’ll attach a pic for reference. The 20 pointers are pretty substantial in size! I’d go in person if possible and try some sizes on with your solitaire and see what you like - then shop accordingly at one of the vendors recommended on this site. 3BAF1C3C-C33C-44BC-A6D9-D4E8F09B686A.jpeg

I've noticed I prefer them to be no wider (and even narrower) than the upper shank of my e-ring if worn together.
To wear alone, the largest my budget would allow.

Hi! Another Bostonian here. Long’s can be expensive.

Perhaps you can order some returnable tester cz bands to determine the width you like?

Along with Whiteflash and Brian Gavin, people seem to also like ID Jewelry for bands.

Whoa! 24k?! I purchased one at Long's maybe....10 or so years ago? It was Memoire, full eternity, 3ct, F/G color, size 6.5. It cost $3100. I can't imagine the price has increased 21k in 10 years?

At any rate, I paired mine with a 1ct princess and it looked amazing & balanced. I think the larger size would overwhelm your solitaire. My mom got the same ring in a half-eternity (i.e. diamonds were the same size as the ones in my full eternity with tcw being less) and paired it with a 1ct mrb. It had the same effect - major blingfest yet balanced with her solitaire. So my vote goes to the 3ct!
