I just went to send my little sister a message on facebook and noticed a picture on her profile from my wedding. I posted an album on there of pics from the wedding just so the bridal party could see some of the pro shots, but my facebook is set up where anyone not on my friends page isn''t supposed to be able to view my pictures. Well, I forgot that if you tag someone in an image you post, anyone viewing the tagged person''s page can see the picture you posted even if they aren''t on your friends page. I''m irritated because the picture from my wedding on my sister''s page wasn''t from where I posted it but from where someone on my sister''s friends page saw the picture, liked it, stole it, then reposted it as their own. I know this is REALLY dumb, but I guess it just bugs me because we had a lot of trouble getting the money together to pay for our pictures, so we just got our copyrights last week (our wedding was last October), and only a week after getting the pictures, a total stranger snagged one of ''em for free and posted it as her own. It also rubs me the wrong way because this person is someone that has been ugly to my sister in the past, so I guess it makes it more irritating when it''s someone that already irritates you, haha. Anyway, like I said, I know this is silly, and I realize that when you post pictures on facebook you can''t really expect to keep your rights to them so much, but...well...I''m still cheesed!

There''s a part of me that just wants to be snarky and email the lady and say, "We paid $650 for the right to post that on my facebook. Here''s your bill!"

Yeah that bites. Too late to un-tag now. I don''t even know if you can un-tag. I know the tagged person can un-tag, because I''ve done it.

I deleted the whole album to prevent it happening in the future, but since she took the picture and posted it in her own album as if it were hers, there''s nothing I can do about her having it. My sister is ticked though, so she''s going to ask her to remove it since it wasn''t her photo to post in the first place. I feel bad that my sis is making a big stink about it because I was going to just fume for a minute, then leave it alone, but I have to admit that I''d feel better if she took it down, too!

hmm ya that is kind of annoying... facebook will never be private no matter what settings you use. when you post on there you have to be prepared that any info you post will and can be shared with the world... most people love tagging pics on there, especially if they are in them, and probably don''t consider you paying for their copyright or not... you can also untag yourself from pics if you want and set security settings so no one can see tagged pics of you...

i didn''t know people could tag themselves like that!

I thought the pic would be deleted once you remove the album though!!!!

OMG i''m facebook retarted... i have done this before (deleted an album, thinking all the pics would be deleted from everyone''s profiles if they were tagged!!!)

Doodle, i think you should def email this person and ask them to delete the pic from their album! It is very rude of them to do that without your permission.

It wouldn''t bother me if the person had just tagged the picture. I''m talking about like where you can drag the picture onto your desktop and save it as your own picture, then upload it onto facebook yourself as if you had personally taken the picture. It''s straight-up stealing, and when you upload pictures on facebook, you have to check that little box saying that you have the right to upload and distribute the picture. Technically, I could report her to facebook for distributing images to which I actually OWN copyrights, but that''s taking it a little far, I think. I just want her to take it down since it wasn''t hers to highjack in the first place, you know? Plus, it''s kind of creepy--I''ve never met her, she wasn''t at my wedding, so I just thought it was a little overly presumptuous!

Oh yeah, I forgot that any one of your friends could tag themselves in anyone of your photos. Oh well. At least it''s a picture that people are passing around because it''s good, not because it''s bad, right?

Girl, I knew better than to post bad pics of my friends--they all know where I live, LOL! Well, okay, I take that back. I did have one up of my best friend dancing at the reception, and I mean she is gettin'' DOOOOOOOOWN and there''s some cleavage going on (I think the relief/bust wild part of her kicked in about two minutes after her parents left!), so yeah, that one could''ve been incriminating for some people, but she''s a bartender, so she''s like, what, my cleavage is a job hazard!

Ahahahaha, one of my friend's daughter's works at Victoria Secret, so she's more than obsessed with cleavage. She has a "guess who's cleavage" photo album on her MySpace page. It's hysterical. Well, only because mine isn't included.
