Or one similar to it..

The funny thing is that last night I printed out about fifteen dresses and gave the whole stack to h2b and told him to pick out his favorite one. I didn't tell him which of the fifteen was my favorite and after about five minutes of looking over them he picked out the exact same one that I chose. He still doesn't know that one is my favorite

I just found it a little funny how we both picked the same one, lol. I guess we're a perfect match

ETA: When you go to try on dresses, do they allow you to take a picture of you in it? I was just wondering because when I do finally get to that stage I'd like to post some on here. Thanks!

What an elegant dress!!

I was able to take pictures of my dress on me- but I know sometimes you need to either buy the dress first, or get special permission... depends how nice the shop is.

beautiful!

it depends. sometimes they let you sometimes they don''t. I think they are paranoid that you''ll copy the dress or something...

doesn''t hurt to ask.

Of the two shops that I''ve been to, neither one let us take pictures - although at one, my friend managed to sneak a camera phone pic before they told us!

That''s a really lovely, sophisticated dress. I hope that you get to try it on soon!

Thank you so much everyone. I do love the look. I knew I would regret never wearing a dress when we get married but because we aren''t having an all out wedding I knew I didn''t want to go over the top. I just thought this one would be perfect...a casual look but still says "hey, I''m getting married!".

I sort of figured that about the picture part. I''ll ask ahead of time when I call to make an appointment. I really hope they don''t mind because my grandmother lives out of state and can''t be there so if they say its ok I''d really love to send her pictures of it.

I''ll let you know how it goes!

Very elegant.

that looks so pretty!

Thank you thank you! I love it. I found a place that carries that line..actually a few places..so I''m going to be calling them very soon to find out if they have that in.

I just showed it to MIL2B and her reply was "it''s cute"

. I''m hoping that word is erased from my memory the moment I try on that dress, lol.

Wow, what a stunning, elegant dress! I think it''s gorgous! Would you care to share the details? (designer, style, etc.)

I hope you''ll be able to take pictures of yourself in it & that you love it as much in person as you do in the ad. Funny that your FI chose the same dress! You guys are indeed a perfect match!

Wow....I think that dress is utterly stunning. So classic and sophisticated!

I think you should take your camera, and BEG to be allowed to take pictures! Don''t forget to mention your out-of-state Grandma!!

Its a beautiful dress!

LOL, I am going to push the out of state grandma bit...maybe guilt them into it

Besides, if they say NO because they''re afraid of me having it copied..that would be silly of them. I can print it off as flyers and drop them over the city if I wanted to, lol.

The designer is by Demetrios and its the Couture line. I liked Priscilla of Boston too but I fell in love with this one.

hi diamonds4me,

must comliment you on your dress: VERY classy and elegant. and too funny that h2b chose is as his favorite as well!
9.gif
so you do not only seem to be a good match but BOTH have good taste, hehe.

just try to take some pics... and if they won't let you, remind them about the availability of the pics in the www. i am sure they will let you take a few pics though. and even if it is only to help you "make your final decision" (instead of the "grandma")

.

regards,
kaschmir

Thank you kaschmir, you're dress is beautiful too! (The one for the civil cer. Have you posted yours for the church wedding yet?)

I really really love the one above but I find myself still looking. I need to stop and stick with that one instead of searching for the "next best one"!

Same designer (Demetrios) but its the Illusions Collection.

Quick question. I just called one of the shops that carries this line and they don''t have either of these dresses in but they can order them in to try on. BUT, to order them just to try them on I have to put down a deposit of half the amount of the dresses.

Is this normal?

oooooh...your first dress is soooo elegant! I love the long flowing lines of it, very sophisticated. Now I dont consider myself a frou frou girl and tend to not like dresses with the flower thing going on but that one you posted is so pretty! THe flowers don''t over power the dress and the silhoutte is just friggin'' sexy! I love how the flower on the side pulls it up with just some sublt ruching, such a unique dress, I hadn''t seen anything like that before! Which one are you leaning towards?

I think I'm going to stick with the first one...for now. I know that there is a HUGE chance that once I try it on I may not like it on my frame.

The second dress I posted really caught my attention. I was really drawn to the way its gathered at the side and the slight off the shoulder straps. I'd probably have to have them remove the flowers from the straps of it IF I were to actually go with that one. I don't know. I do know that if I have them bring one in for me it will be the first one because I don't want to put down a deposit on two dresses that essentially is the same amount as ONE of those dresses. Yikes, that freaks me out a tiny bit. And having a head cold (summer colds SUCK!) I didn't even think to ask if they are refundable. I would imagine that it would be refundable but in the world of bridal gowns...I just don't know. The first dress I bought 9 years ago was right off the rack so I didn't have to put a deposit down or order it in. This is all so confusing...but fun

ETA: No, I wouldn't have them remove the flowers from the straps. It would look out of balance that way.

This is just a bump to re-ask my question here so no one has to dig through the post to find it

Diamonds4Me - yeah.. usually when stores will order a dress in for you to try on, they pretty much expect that you''re gonna buy it. They make you put the deposit down so that you feel obligated to buy it once it comes in. Which is pretty silly, because its not like if they ordered a sample gown in, they wouldn''t benefit from by having it for other brides to try on so they could order those dresses. I don''t think I''d risk that.. and if you were going to do that, id only do it with ONE of the dresses, not both

I know that when a girl I know was dress shopping she did find one shop that would order a dress for her to try on without a deposit. But I think this is rare.

I think its best to just go to some shops and try on the dresses that they have, and see if you can find something similar, or something else that you love.

Here is a dress that I am loving right now.. I thought I''d share it with you girls since I already have a gown! Maybe someone else can get it! It sort of reminds me of the first dress you posted

bu2068m.jpg

I dont know why they cut off the girls head.

MelissaSue, thanks so much. I think that I am going to just go and see what I can find that is similar to it because I don''t want to plop down that much money and not know if I''ll even really like it or not. With my luck I''d only get a store credit or something and get stuck having to go through them anyway. But the first dress looks pretty basic so hopefully I will be able to find one like it with no problems. I like the dress you posted. It does remind me of the first one.

I plowed through David''s Bridal''s website last night because there''s one in Charlotte but I didn''t really see anything on the site that reminded me of these. But who knows what they have in person. I''m sure they don''t have every thing posted there.

But, if worst comes to worst, there is a seamstress in town here and she has displayed some beautiful wedding gowns in her shop window and I''m sure she can help me come up with something similar and all mine.

OK, Somebody take these things away from me. I really need to stop looking through all of these bridal magazines. They''re like crack or something. I can''t stop buying them! Is there a BMA Group (Bridal Mag-aholics Anonymous) I can sign up with?

I just picked up an issue of Elegant Bride and just about drooled all over myself when I opened it up.

I don''t know what it is about this outfit but it keeps drawing me in. What do you all think?

I want Honest opinons...please??

I think the last photo is really stunning; what a beautiful idea. I remember you saying something about a casual wedding? To me the outfit is extremely casual compared to your first idea, more "reception" than ceremony, but depending on how you''re doing it, I think it could work! Unless of course your husband to be is dying to see you in a dress.

Then, skip it.
