Who wants to be number 8 on the LIW list b/c I am engaged!!!
It happened this New Year''s Eve and I am just ecstatic!
Here is my story: I got into NYC from my hometown on Monday afteroon and spent the day getting ready for the evening. My FI (!!) had told me we were going to see Alvin Ailey, my favorite modern dance group ever, and then out with his friends
. He told me the night was going to be special but not to expect a proposal b/c he wanted it to be a surprise and he was having problems getting the ring b/c the setter at the jewelers was really sick. Well, he calls me around 6:40 to tell me to go outside, and there is a car waiting for me! But he isn''t in it, instead its a mutual friend of ours who explains to me that FI had to work late and she would be my date for the show instead and we would meet up with FI later
. Needless to say I was a little miffed. But its Ailey and she had never seen them so we had a great time!
After the show, the car came back to pick us up and my friend tells the driver to go to a random address I had never heard of before, and where do we end up? In front of the Thai restaurant where me and FI had finished our first date 2.5 years ago.
I go inside and FI is there with his friends. While I wandered what was going on, I still didn''t fully catch on. In the middle of my Pad Thai, the bartender (a friend of ours since that summer 2.5 years ago) begins to serenade me on bended knee at my table and then FI asks me to get up and dance in the middle of the restaurant. (He has done this before, we are crazy, so I still thought nothing) After dancing for a moment he gets down on one knee! I began sobbing hysterically and therefore remember nothing he said down there but did manage to nod yes when he asked "Will you marry me?". The whole restaurant then proceeded to give us a round of applause. It was wonderful. The whole thing was captured in pictures and videos by his friends so we will be able to see the moment forever!
I hate to say all that without attaching pics, but I will do so as soon as I get home from work! Yay! I guess now, I can really launch full swing into planning our July wedding.
