Thoughts on anniversary ring ideas?

My SO and I are coming up on our 15th wedding anniversary this spring, and we are considering purchasing a new ring. I currently have a 1.07 carat cushion in a halo (with 1 point stones) and a pave band and wedding band from DK. I love it but am looking for a bit more impact. Thoughts on looking at a round solitaire using an ACA stone in a bigger size (maybe something close to 2 carat but under) versus a much more economical 5 stone at around 1.7 ctw? I know that it’s personal preference and I need to try things on, but any initial thoughts on which would be a more substantial, sparkly look on the hand? I’m 42 and ready for something with a bit more pow. Posting my current set for reference.image.jpg

Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! As you can imagine, you are talking about two totally different looks. You will have to try on some rings to decide which packs the most punch for you. Depends on lots of thing regarding budget - size, color, clarity - so you have lots to narrow down! You may have a long term plan as well - solitaire for now, five stone for another occasion or vice versa.

Agree with @MissGotRocks but also want to add that if you go with a round ACA just under 2 cts, how will you set it? Will you use a halo again? That will impact how that size stone looks on your hand.

This situation is exactly why God created cubic zirconia! Order some cheap rings from Amazon. See what you like, and what feels comfortable to wear, and how often you will wear it.

IMHO if you are looking to make an impression, then a substantial 5-stone with high quality diamonds will stand out from the crowd more than a 1.9x carat solitaire. But as to which looks better to your eye, only you can say!

Are you willing to sacrifice a little on the color/clarity/size of the center stone? Because a 1.3-1.5 ct round center stone with 4 really well cut round side stones would be gorgeous.

I think just a classic solitaire.

Would you wear the (under) 2 carat solitaire on your left with your pave band instead of your current cushion/halo?

And would you wear the 5-stone as a right hand ring or on your left instead of your wedding set?

And congrats on your anniversary!

Yes. I would wear the solitaire with my current pave band and the 5 stone would be an alternative to my wedding set on my left. I have two Cartier rings I love to switch up on my right.

Sounds good! At this point, I’d go try on some solitaires and 5-stones to get a feel for which you prefer.

My e-ring is a graduated 5 stone, I really love the finger coverage!

I think a solitaire under 2 carats would give less pow than your halo. A 5 stone would be something more different than your current set.
