Helping someone fairly quickly buy an engagement ring. They want cushion cut natural as they feel best bang for buck. These will be placed in a rose gold setting so my understanding is it can go warmer. I've read I can ask for ideal scope when I narrow it down?
His budget for the stone is max $2750. The least expensive here is $1850 and most is $2750

You'll really need to provide links to the stones so we can see the videos and how the stone reacts as it moves.

I am thinking you're looking at James Allen?

Based on the pics, to my eyes:
Stone #1 will face up with a lot of black due to the facet pattern,
Stone #2 has mushy areas on the table perimeter,
Stone #3 doesn't have crisp faceting under the table,
Stone #4 has a choppy/blocky facet pattern I find unattractive but others may like it,
Stone #5 has potential and faces up the largest but I'd want to see the video to make sure there isn't any mush around the edges of the table

FWIW I also like this one:
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.00-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-sku-18053942
It tops out at $2750 but faces up large and bright with beautiful faceting and a solid performance

Of the settings you posted, I like the 1st one mainly because the diamond basket is in white metal which will highlight the beautiful diamond, but also because I like the rose gold infinity design on the shank.

That "I @marymm posted looks very nice.

I would try to stay at "I" or above in color if you can.

As far as the settings, I like the 2nd and 3rd. Not too fond of the first one though.

I had read you could go higher in color with rose gold [higher meaning H I J K ] but
thinking need to make sure the prongs are also rose gold ? if higher color...
i'll add links to stones below. thanks for help!!

Ideally <$2500 so he can spend more on setting.... [his budget is around $3k total can go up a wee bit]

if the recipient has looked at diamonds and is okay with the warmer colors (j/k), then those colors may be fine but I would still have the same cut/performance issues with those particular stones you listed above.

if the recipient hasn't any input and/or the couple haven't had opportunities to look at & comment on diamond colors, then safest to go no lower than I color.

J/K diamonds will look J/K color no matter what metal they're in -- some people set J/K in rose gold and to their eyes it is most complementary but there are plenty of other people who would stand by setting J/K only in white metal or only in yellow metal

If recipient already wears/loves rose gold, great choice then no matter diamond color -- if recipient only wears white metal or yellow metal, best to go with what what is actually worn by the person

obviously if recipient has been clear about wanting rose gold and largest cushion-cut diamond in any color under budget, then that should be the goal

@marymm thanks for tip. I will stick to I and above. There are mainly I color on my list. only 1 J. Did you have any you liked? And the Recipient requested rose gold.

@tyty333 still like 2 and 3?

Thanks all.

Okay,

When I shrink down the video of Stone #1, it's performance is attractive although it faces up the smallest of all your choices.

Stone #2 looks really good in the video, faces up a true square, and is the lowest price. I do think this is a decent candidate although in my experience a K color will have a visible warm tint to it, no matter the setting.

I'd eliminate Stone #3 entirely as the video shows black carbon inclusions on the face of the diamond -- even if not always readily eye-visible, why go there when you have other options.

I'd also eliminate Stone #4 because the facet pattern and blocky on/off performance is not attractive to my eyes -- YMMV.

While Stone #5, the rectangle, seems to be a nicely cut diamond, to my eyes there's something slightly off about its performance as it rotates -- that could be a artifact of the video itself or actually present IRL.

You know I like Stone #6 best, but it comes at high range of stated budget. Please note as 5.9 x 5.7, it is not a true square and that matters to some people.

Hope this helps.

Thanks all.

I said regarding the settings (rings), I liked 2 and 3. I WAS NOT talking about the stones.

I still like 5 from your originals if you are trying to get the cost of the stone down a little. Plus it gives her a little extra size which is
nice. With Pricescopers who are familiar with in-person stone colors and know what they're getting we usually have no problem
with going down in color. If your girlfriend is expecting a bright white stone then J/K probably won't be a good idea. All colors, IMO,
can be lovely if the cut is good and the stone is reflecting light back to you.

I own 2 Super Ideal J and K colored stones. The J is small (.46) and you do not see the color in it. The K is larger (1.66) and you do see
all of its K-ness. I'm hoping at the size you are looking at the tint will be less obvious.

What size finger does your GF have?

thanks everyone for the help.

good input.

I'm helping someone else purchase.

I believe her finger is 6.25 or 6.5

I'll send him #2 with warning about color and the one Mary added.

#5 is gone. That was my personal favorite. drat.

I might look again....

Also steering him to a more simple band to help with cost...s4.jpg
