Hi all,
I'd like to ask for your opinion on the following diamond. It's for an engagement ring. The specs are:
1.3ct D VVS1, 3EX
6.95 x 6.98 x 4.35mm
HCA Score: 0.8

Table 55%
Depth 62.5%
Crown Angle 33°
Crown Height 15%
Pavilion Angle 41°
Pavilion Depth 43.5%
Star Length 50%
Lower Half 80%
Girdle Medium - Slightly Thick (Faceted) 4.5%
Culet None
Flourescence None

From what I have read fromt this forum, I understand that a 33/41 diamond will lean towards more brightness than fire. However, I'd like your opinion on this diamonds overall performance and if it is worth buying. The crown angle is one degree out from making this diamond a super idea cut. Not sure if this will have a big impact? I'm also unsure of it's optical symmetry. I am looking for a well cut diamond with good fire, brilliance and scintillation, but not necessarily the best bang for your buck. I was also told that this diamond has no light leakages so hopefully it has good light return?I unfortunately cannot attach a video/link to the diamond but they have provided me with the ASET image and the hearts and arrows image.

What is the asking price from the jeweler? That will help us answer whether its "worth it" or not

I'm not too concerned about the price, but more so how well cut this diamond is. However, it's around $35000aud including the setting.

The diamond you posted in the first post is better than the ton of GIA steep deeps out there but not a top of the line stone.
It has a lot of issues like a pretty wonky pavilion but in the end it boils down to its still better than a lot of stones out there.

Appreciate your feedback Karl. What do you mean by a wonky pavilion and how is it a big issue?

I think you can find a significantly better cut stone for that price

Is this a bad stone? I thought all the proportions fit into the Super ideal cut ranges. All except the crown angle at 33 degrees.

Basically the heart image is a road map of the pavilion, that there is so much variation in the hearts shows there are some deviations or to use slang wonky.
The pavilion drives light return and it creates visible deviations in the ASET image.
But even with that its still better than a GIA steep deep.

It's not a *bad* stone, but it's not a super ideal cut and you are overpaying (IMHO)

Thank you. Can I ask for your thoughts on this one? The proportions look a lot better but not sure about the optics. https://www.b2cjewels.com/dd/207770...nealgo.com&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=first
I've enquired about it and am waiting for more images.

Only reason why I'm not going with the one you guys have suggested is because my partner and I want to be able to physically see the diamond at a retailer for the added security. It just works better for us.

Not enough information or images of that diamond to make a determination. GIA certificate not posted and neither are crown/pavilion angles. If you purchase from Whiteflash, they have a great return policy if it isn’t the diamond for you. You are trying to select from diamonds that are not as well cut as those you could choose.

This one has potential, though an ASET image is needed to tell us more.

Hi All, just received the hearts and arrows and ASET image of this second diamond. According to StoneAlgo, it has a much better cut score? but the hearts and arrows don't look any better? Maybe I'm not looking at it right. The ASET image also looks like it has alot of white in the middle but it does have a lot less green in comparison to the first diamond. Any ideas?

I would avoid this one in a ring some of the facets in the 40.6 average are 40.4 or under.
This creates less brightness at longer ring distances because the mains do not go bright in the distances common for ring viewing.
There is a fairly large variation in the pavilion mains.
The white in the aset is partly the deviation in the pavilion and partly because the back light is way to bright.

Are you fairly close to Holloway Diamonds?

Thanks guys, I'll keep looking.
