Hi all,

We have narrowed our diamond search down and we think this one is a great option, but would love a second opinion. It’s SI1 with pretty minor inclusions, although it does have medium fluorescence. Will this cause cloudiness? Also is the crown angle ok at 33.5, vs 40.8 pavillion?

In terms of price, its about $7500 USD including taxes.

here’s the link to the GIA report and a video:

thanks!

Can't comment on pricing, but the stone itself looks pretty good. Not perfect, but well cut. I can't open the link for some reason. I don't see any reason to think it should be cloudy.

Oops, here’s a screenshot of the certificate instead

It looks nice! Crown is a bit shallow but it should be a nice bright stone. Have you read the educational article on proportions and how they effect a diamond? If not, I think it will help you in your search.

Thanks for your reply! I have read about what is considered ideal proportions and did notice the crown angle was just a tiny bit off but thought that wouldn’t affect the diamond too much! PS this will be the first diamond I ever own so I am a bit of a noob, is brightness the white sparkle whereas fire is the rainbow sparkle?

Brightness is white light return and fire is spectral flashes of colored light return. Here are example photos of each. 00C2E9CF-991A-4EE6-BC58-E43D343B3008.jpegB3E6433F-9238-47FF-AACD-8F276BAAAF19.jpeg

I concur...looks really nice!

As an alternative recommendation (because that's what I do), here's a very light J VS2 1.38 AGS000 (better than a majority of GIA 3X):

Thank you - that stone looks really lovely, do you think the J colour would be an issue in a platinum setting?

Hard to tell how it compares with your I. If this one if a low J and yours is a high I, then I doubt it would be discernable. If yours is a low I (closer to H), then the difference may be easily noticable.

These are all I color:

One more suggestion from a Brian Gavin Diamonds (super ideal diamond vendor):

1.221 J VVS2 Brian Gavin Blue (6.90 x 6.86 x 4.24 mm) - dimensions are similar to the diamond you are considering.

Although It has medium blue fluorescence, BGD's Blue series are checked to ensure the fluorescence doesn't negativity impact the diamond's beauty. In fact, it can potentially make the diamond especially in lower colors appear whiter.
