Well I am dreaming of an ACA upgrade but it has been a long time since I thought about all the numbers so I am am looking at this ACA and it doesn't seem quite like the ones I used to looks at. The price seems great (I'm in Australia so even moreso!) but I see that it is now a GIA stone and other ACAs are as well? I know I have missed something big, I am guesisng that WF is now grading with GIA instead or maybe I am confused. DO they still have the "A Cut Above" certificates?

Here is the diamond in question, the lower girdle is lower than my current ACA, with some other slight variations, and I wonder how different they would look.

My current ACA: https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-di...olor-si1-clarity-round-ideal-cut-sku-a4486341

I love my current ACA so so much and would love a bigger one of the same "flavour" so not sure if I should be looking only at diamonds with the exact same specs?

Hi! I remember you and good to see you back!

As of last December, AGS was acquired by GIA. All diamonds purchased after that are graded by GIA but they come with an AGS cut grade analysis. The ACA designation is generally stated on the grading report. Nothing about Whiteflash or their ACA diamonds changed; they are all vetted by Whiteflash just as they always were. I will tell you though, that Whiteflash has changed its trade in policy. If you bought a diamond from them before August 2023 (which you did) you can use their trade in policy. After that trade though, you must spend 50% more in order to upgrade again. The diamond market has been impacted by the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia prohibiting the import of their diamonds. It has also been affected by inflation and the lab diamond market coming in strong. Prices have gone up and come down some. No guarantees on what tomorrow or the next day brings with pricing.

GIA rounds some of the numbers on a cert which is why that number looks different. You can always call or email your consultant at WF to get their take on any diamond that interests you. The price for the one you linked seems very good! And as always, folks here are ready and willing to help you choose a diamond. Just let us know what you are considering!

Oh wow so many changes! Well that makes take some pause, I really want to upgrade but will likely only do it once so definietly want to make it worth it. I'm thinking of maybe going and looking at some different sized diamonds locallay and asking myself how big I would want to go to be fully content and then see how long it would take to get there.

I have also toyed with the idea of trying a WF lab diamond as a bitof a tester but not too sure how I feel about that. Lots to consider!

Thanks so much for updating me!!

Makes perfect sense - if you are going to upgrade, try to find what size you would like to end up with and make the most of the upgrade!

Hello, sugarcloud!
Not a fan of this particular ACA...the wisps and clouds seem to be quite evident in the direct lighting/sparkle video.
Got a max price tag in mind for the upgrade diamond? We can help scour through the Whiteflash inventory and possibly make some recommendations.

Thanks so much, I guess that explains the lower price! Right now I am just looking around but I think something around the $7kUSD at the most as I am in Australia and our dollar is always so weak. I have always dreamed of something over 1 carat which it why the previous one looked so tempting but I really don't want to downgrade in terms of performance so I guess I need to be realisitc about how big I will be able to go.

Right now I dont think I would consider anything lower than I as far as colour, clarity is not really an issue, unless it is messing with performance.

When it comes to the lower girdle % I have always leaned towards the higher ones, 77, 78, bur do you think this is something that would make that much of a difference in diamonds around the 1carat mark? I am trying not to obsess over things that might not really matter in the end.

Oh and I am also curious, what are your thoughts on the expert selecation line? This one looks nice but agian, if performance is an issue I would rather not risk it:

Have WF pull these and provide you with comparison videos:

I really like this Expert Selection stone. I'd call them and ask why it didn't get ACA status.

Maybe the flourescence?

Thank you so much for suggesting these :) I have been trying on some different rings and have come to the conslusion that if I am going to upgrade only once, I really am going to want to go a bit bigger, maybe around th 1.2 carat mark. Sadly I just cant afford that yet to I'm going back to saving my pennies and hopefully reaching my goal at some point! You guys are honestly the best though and I am sure I will be back here asking for input once I am ready to get my dream diamond!!

I think waiting and then springing for a 1.2+ is a great decision, sugarcloud
