Thoughts on this blue sapphire?

Hi all,

Looking for a sapphire that would maybe work well in a halo pendant.

I came across this one that I am considering from an instagram seller. The color seems very nice (described, at least, as "Royal blue"), and the seller claims that it doesn't darken:

Weight is 1.26 carats and dimensions are 6.04-6.08x4.31

Asking price is $1,500.

Comes with a certificate from GIC, and I'd want to send to AGL but part of me also doesn't for a stone where the AGL cert is 20% of the cost of the stone.

Would enjoy hearing your thoughts.

I would be surprised if it didn't darken at least a little. I would want a picture in indoor light.

And that's my worry, too. - I've asked for a photo taken in regular indoor light.

Followup: Here are two photos I was sent of indoor light.

Have also been told that the origin is Sri Lankan

Compare to this? Maybe?
I ‘think’ this stone I linked may have its own thread here on PS under a different owner.
If you haven’t seen a ‘Royal’ blue sapphire in person under numerous lighting - I’d also be wary it may be darker in numerous areas IRL, if that darker color wasn’t what you were going for.

Thanks @Rfisher! That's a gorgeous stone, too. It does seem comparable, and I'd rather go with the Jeff White one for less money... :D Hmm... decisions. :rolleyes2:

It would be for my mother, who does like the darker sapphires. (Princess Diana style, but even Di's was darker than it seems many around are)

It's a no brainer. It's already haloed! Grab it!

Not quite ready to go.
Listing states a halo diamond is missing.

It should be fairly inexpensive to replace one small halo diamond. Any competent jeweler could do so. The ring is priced so well, it’s not a big deal. It’s like you’re getting the stone for free!!

Go with that one!!! Almost completely finished, and you know what it'll look like once set. It'll be pretty cheap to replace a stone.

It would be reset anyway, as it's for a pendant.

Anyway, I'm in contact with the seller who may wish to keep the setting herself, anyway. Fingers crossed it works out!

Update:

I got in contact with the seller on LT and got a great price for that ring! She decided that she didn't want the setting, after all, so I ended up getting it at a truly bargain price.

I'm excited to have a Jeff White cut sapphire in hand. I'll post back here, of course, when it arrives. It ships tomorrow.:mrgreen2:

The ring is in hand! And Jeff White has his stellar reputation for a reason. I think this will make a wonderful pendant stone -- Mom is not a ring person. Occasionally it gets a hair dark but it doesn't ever go black.

And, in the right light, it's totally spectacular:

Awesome!

Beautiful cut and color, I’m glad it worked out!
