Thoughts on this blue topaz?

The stone looks nice to my untrained eyes.

Here is a 10.18ct Electric Blue Topaz from Jeff Davies's Etsy shop for price comparison purposes.

I have purchased many CSs from JD before and his cutting is very good even when they were not listed as "precision" cut.

It looks very pretty from your pics. Blue topaz is usually treated to get the vibrant blue color; it's not an expensive stone. But good cutting takes skill, tools and time so maybe up to a few hundred bucks, I don't know.

The cut is GORGEOUS, @ungana! I agree with @seaurchin... I would say a few hundred (USD) would be an appropriate max.

sigh guess i overpaid quite a bit then. $650 for this. looked good to me though

Like others said, it is a very pretty well cut stone. Does it speak to you in real life?

Overpaid is a relative term. Most of us here are do not typically pay full retail so that is a factor. Your typical consumer pays more than most do here.

Forget buyer's remorse...unless you can return it, money spent is a sunk cost. You've bought it, you love it so enjoy it as you should (it's beautiful).

Most/Many of us have overpaid for things at times that we still love...I still do when its what I want. It doesn't take away from the beauty.

You know, I'm not sure you overpaid for it. First, it's 11ct., which is large. Second, it is precision cut. So like everyone else said, that's worth a premium. As @CaseyLouLou mentioned, the important thing is that you are happy with it and it was within your budget. That's how I feel about my purchases. Of course, no one wants to feel like they were over charged. But if I can't find something comparable for less, I'm happy to "overpay" for something I truly love.

Good point. We have all overpaid here and there but I usually get over it if I am happy to have the item in my possession. You will enjoy this stone. It’s gorgeous.

When its safe (covid) take a leisurely stroll through a big shinny bright mall and go visit one of the big jewlery chains
Take a look at the prices
And also the quality of the stones

While you might feel you overpaid on your topaz compired to some of the trully great buys some PSers are able to sniff out, you got excellent value for money

When its my time to shop for a new blue topaz please remember to remind me of this place

Yup, been there, done that, got the T-shirt; one was a Mahenge trillion from Yvonne and the other a 9mm concave cut from Richard Homer; however, they ticked all the boxes for me at the time, and rings made from them are worn regularly and I love them.

Your stone is a beauty! I would just enjoy it.
I too have paid sharp prices for some stones and crazy overpriced prices for other stones. No problem as long as you enjoy it to the max. In the end you will have a great cost per wear or a great cost per ‘moment of enjoyment’

Im time you will forget the $$$$$
You'll buy a new car or a house or do some renovations, or even just buy some new appliances and it will become like small change to your memory
