Thoughts on this Diamond?

Although this stone passes the HCA it would not pass the next step (idealscope image). It definitely has problems.
The lower price reflects the IGI grading report which is considered softer on color/clarity than GIA.

I would recommend dropping down to a G if necessary to stay in your budget.

no, just no. Look at those 'arrows' (that don't actually look like arrows).

No need to request the cert or IS image

Too shallow

Thanks! It's thankfully below my budget. I'm thinking, having done some more research, that I'd be better aiming to get the best possible cut and dropping colour to a G but sticking with VS1/2. What do you think?

That sounds like a great idea. Are you open to other vendors? This is a stone I'd recommend from Whiteflash, one of several highly recommended super ideal cut vendors on the forum. They also have a very generous upgrade policy.

Thank you I will take a look at that!

I also came accross this one: https://www.pricescope.com/diamonds/round/1_01-carat-e-color-vs1-clarity-17868447 which I think seems good for the price?

This would be a superior option, even with the color grade jump (at least in my opinion...if you want to stick with D-F colorless range, then go for it).

Thanks appreciated. Is there anything in particular on the diamond I pointed out that I should be aware of? Or other than the medium fluorescence, is it a good buy?

This one is much better than the other one. It's been discounted for the fluorescence, but if you're okay with that, then it looks like a good stone. If you think there's a chance you would upgrade in the future, though, other vendors like Whiteflash or Victor Canera have a much better upgrade policy.

Yes, I think so. The MBF with E color is, statistically and realistically, likely nothing to worry about.
The proportions and angles are outstanding.
The diamond appears very well cut in the rotational view.

To echo what Kim N said: if you ever do decide to upgrade in the future, then selecting a seller with a much more custom-centric policy would be beneficial.
JA requires the replacement diamond to be of at least double the price of the diamond being upgraded, whereas Whiteflash, Victor Canera, and Brian Gavin (as a few examples from many) have way less stipulations, WF and VC don't require any minimum price jump and you can select from any in stock diamond of equal or higher value. BG has a few stipulations, such as you must select at least a higher color grade or a higher clarity grade, if I recall correctly.

If you want to stick with JA, then I think you've found a winner (and contact them ASAP to put it on hold so someone else doesn't snag it first).

Thank you all so much!

I have ordered the diamond and ring, I managed to get an additional $300 off the setting and a further $300 off the diamond so very pleased!

Thanks again :)

Which diamond and setting did you get? Did you go with the last 1.01 E you posted?

I went with the 1.01 E and a platinum "Solitaire Engagement Ring Embellished With a Four Prong Signature Head".
