Hope everyone's having a great week!

I've done a little reading and talked to a few people about pears, but I'm still fairly uncertain about what I'm looking for haha

I was wondering if someone knowledgeable could give me feedback on the following diamond. I have it on hold.

The following is no longer available, but i was mesmerized by it for some reason when i came across it. Curious how they each measure up.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Happy Holidays : )

I'm not a pear expert so I won't comment on cut, but these seem like totally different looks.

The one you were mesmerized by has better clarity and is totally white at D color (but smaller), the one you have on hold has visible inclusions (which I don't think is a big deal for a pendant, but wanted to note) and a fairly perceptible G color tint.

I think color shows a lot more in pears, even though most people would be satisfied with a G color, to me if you're drawn the D I'd look for a different D (or E color)

Is there a reason you haven't hunted for another D color with better clarity like the one you loved? Blue nile has more than 600 Vs2+ E-D color diamonds from 0.9-1.10 carats in stock so I am sure you could find something closer to the one that was purchased

Thanks so much for the response. Initially, I was hoping to get something before Christmas as I'd love to gift it while we're away in the new year and those two were options. I'm probably going to wait, so that I can make a more informed choice.
I was curious if I was mesmerized by the D color due to the cut, the color or simply because it's a little further from the camera. Even though I understand the basics, the cut is what I'm mostly at a loss with. With that said, I was hoping a G would be white enough, so I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on that.

I'll take a look at what's available. There are actually around 20 with strict parameters and staying under budget, so the search shouldn't be too terrible. I'm just hoping to pick a few things up from the incredible people of this forum!

Hopefully some pear pros chime in soon!

I do think the icy white D is super yummy with a pear cut (and E or F would be fine too), and if it helps you stay in budget, an si1 could totally doable...not all si1s are equal!

For a round I wouldn't hesitate with a G, but I do really think color becomes concentrated in pears especially because you have a tip that just will never have great light return and will show color more. I also personally start noticing color a lot more below F color for pears - i looked a lot of tiny pears for side stones at one point and even F sometimes showed color more than i like, but i am super sensitive to color so take that with a grain of salt

Feel free to share options here for folks to weigh in on!

...and super yummy should always be the goal, right? : )

Thanks so much for the feedback. It's really helpful. I'm a little sensitive to color, so it might be smart to stay above a G. Although, super yummy is the goal, so might be best to stick with a D haha

Not a fan of the 1.11 due to the dark areas through the bow-tie area.
There are 2 larger arrow facets that are dark; with a slight twist the dark area pops up to the next set of arrows. Not a fan of
this much darkness. A little bit of darkness (to add to scintillation) is fine but not this amount on bigger facets.

Comments on color/clarity...With fancy cut stones (pears, marquise, ovals, etc.) it's mainly about finding the best cut and
accepting the color/clarity (within tolerance) that the stone comes in. Unfortunately its hard to find well-cut fancy shape
stones so I would definitely be willing to go down to G/SI1. Color is concentrated in the pointed end due to all the virtual
facets but G should still be fine IMO.

Yeah I don't like the G for the reasons already stated (darkness in the large facets). But IMHO in this size G color should be fine if the cut is good

Thanks so much for the thorough breakdown. And thanks for the thoughts on color. I'll try to keep an eye out for similar darkness in other ones when going through the available stones. Out of curiosity, just for reference, how does the D color option compare? Is it any better?

Good to know! Thanks.
