Hi!
I have the opportunity to purchase a heart brilliant at just over seller’s cost (legit, it’s close friends). It includes a new mounting being made specifically for the stone.

Its Colored Diamond Report from GIA just came in:
1.02 ct.
Fancy Yellow
Natural
Even
Polish & Symmetry both VG
Fl Faint
5.81 x 6.47 x 3.80

Here’s the situation:
Clarity I1
Comments: Additional clouds, pinpoints, and surface graining not shown.
See plot below.

Will be set as a PENDANT so won’t get the exposure to getting knocked around as would a ring.

Shape appeal is very desirable to me and, in videos, a very lively stone. Will see in person soon but not eager to fall in love with something that has a durability issue (even as pendant).

Of note, the stone has already endured being set and then being removed from the mounting so this is encouraging (stone was already in a mounting but did not have a grading report and I didn’t want to purchase it at any price without one so they sent in to GIA for me. It will now be set in a new mounting that is being made for it.

Was THRILLED it was graded Fancy Yellow!

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks so much!

Girdle?
I'm not greatly concerned about durability in pendant if the girdle is ok.
How 24" eye clean is it? Enough for you?

Oops, sorry about that! Well, funny you should ask… it’s a “chubby”:

Some weight hidden in the girdle but it can in come combos darken the color.
If the price is right and you love it when you see it I think it could make a charming pendant.
Do you have some pics you can share so we can comment further on the cut?

What do you mean when you said:

I just posted inappropriate photo - let me try again.

Have new video - really pretty but don’t know how to post videos.IMG_6423.jpegIMG_6423.jpeg

Sorry for duplicate.
Let me know how to post video.
Thx

I love the shape of the heart. The new mounting will be the same; when the bench jeweler removed the stone to send off to GIA it was decided it should be reset in a more substantial/better crafted setting. Will be same chain.

I like it, looks sweet.
Video you have to upload to youtube or other video sharing site and post a link to it.

Thicker girdle can with some combos darken the yellow in a yellow diamond.

I'd love to see a video! Upload to YouTube or imgur and then post the link :)

Will work on it! Really want you guys to see it.

@lovedogs I uploaded the video to YouTube but how do I remove my photo and name from it? Thanks!

You need to make a new youtube account without personal info. I made a PS gmail + YouTube so I could post videos here :)

Thx! I’ll work on it. Stay tuned!

I'm not an expert, but I think it looks lovely.

It's a little hard to tell from the video, but I like the shape!

I like it! nice shape, nice color.
As long as the inclusions look ok to you at about 24 inches your good to go.
Why 24 inches? Because in a pendant viewing distances are longer than a ring and 24 inches is actually very close.

Thanks for all the input. Really happy to hear that I don’t need to be concerned about durability given I1.
Good to know regarding the 24” - will keep in mind when I see it in about 10 days.
Always wanted a heart shape and always wanted a fancy yellow. Also always really critical about heart outline and how so many aren’t that great. So the offer from my friends to acquire this one has been really alluring.
Funny, giagrams on IG just had a post about the shape appeal of hearts!

If it were me, and since you ask
If the price is right and by the looks of the plot - I would not be bothered.

I like the outline shape as well. The face up to carat weight might be a trade off- but it depends on what’s available comparable elsewhere at that price point.

What’s hard (imo) to see in the video (the static picture in the setting with rollo chain looks lovely to me.)
The faceting is something important - but not important at the same time - imo. I know fcds are mostly cut for color retention. It’d just depend if I wanted to see crushed ice from edge to edge - or a more chunkier/symmetric facet pattern, and how that played out in color perception from the perimeter to the center. If it did at all, I mean.

I’m not going to call out the vendor - but a certain vendor has some informative postings of comparing 4 yellow heart diamonds on the hand to studio shot. Informative as in showing some that have edge to edge ‘crushed ice’ next to some that are chunkier but almost have a look of loss/change of color at perimeter.
I don’t think that was the vendors ‘lesson’ to make in the posting, but it would open my eyes to what I may like to see in a yellow heart vs what I didn’t want to see. What ones ‘tastes’ are. But again -
That all depends on what else is readily available in this price point to the one you are being offered.

Thanks for this valuable reply! I am eager to see the optics in person. I have other videos but there was too much identifying info that I couldn’t remove to be able to post here. I personally don’t have an issue with a crushed ice look… I know that’s not a popular thing but I have always been attracted to radiants with that look. And it would be something different than what I currently have in other jewelry pieces (RB & step-cut). So I think for me it doesn’t matter what the “look” is as long as it is visually appealing to me.
Yes, that chunky girdle yields a face-up smaller for carat weight but it is what it is. Sometimes you can’t get it all in one package and, for me, the shape appeal and legit GIA graded Fancy is a win.
The fact that it’s “all about the color” with that rough is what I’ve had to keep in mind with regard to the clarity.
Thanks for this input and I will be mindful of pattern when I finally see it in person.
Also thanks for the heads up on that website with some “food for thought” on appearance… I will try to find it.
While I know what my friends paid from their supplier I also did some online shopping research… of course not all factors being equal, overall I would be paying about half than if I purchased something comparable online.

This is gorgeous and has won my "no hearts" heart. It's so lively! I think you've made a great buy.

I have zero expertise to articulate why exactly but my first thought was, 'I want one' and I trust my gut. The color is just lovely to me. I think it will make a lovely necklace.

Tried twice to reply… I’m so excited about these responses! Thank you!

Its funny but I thought the exact same thing -- I'm totally jealous and want one too!
