As some of you know, I received a 4 carat violet blue spinel a short while ago, as well as a 1.77 pinkish red Mahenge spinel trillion. Today, I received a hot pink Mahenge trillion that matches the other one for cutting, but it's 1.91 carats. It's more pink but still very saturated, and no brown or orange. I had some time on my day off to take a photo shoot. This last trilion had an inclusion in it, which made the price very reasonable, but I cannot see the inclusion at all from my arm's length, and it isn't eye distracting at all.

First off, here are the two trillions side by side in my hand in natural light. You can see the varying saturation this way. They look like a matched pair otherwise, and the inclusion isn't very noticable in the right hand one. My photos can't really bring out the true saturation of these stones, but I tried!!

Here's the violet, which again my camera has a problem with, and the two Mahenges. I love how all three of them look together.

I wish my camera would cooperate better, but thanks for looking.

The Mahenges on a dark surface, for some reason, this photo brings out the saturation better.

The colors are awesome. The pinks must really glow. You have such a good eye, beautiful stones. Thanks for the pics.

Sigh.

I love these stones.

I think I need another photo of the violet spinel.

These stones make me smile! They are so bright. Who doesn't love a bright pink spinel?

They are very pretty stones with great color. :appl:

Great spinels, and they look so nice in combination!

Thank you all so much for the kind words.

Aoife,
I took this photo of the violet in incandescent light next to a 1.5 ct violet spinel that I own which is far less saturated. Sorry, it's fuzzy, but it gives a good idea of the saturation, which my camera fails to capture well. The little spinel is actually an attractive stone, but can't hold a candle to the four carat one.

This is one of my fav pics of the violet spinel, taken outside in the sun. The yellow at the bottom of the stone is the reflection of my chrysoberyl ring I was wearing.

Beautiful gems, my favourite is the large violet spinel.

So beautiful, thanks for posting those TL. The saturation on the large violet spinel is just amazing!

Better pics this time than the last but guess we'll have to wait until the stones are set for clearer pics. What is your plan for the new pinker Mahenge?

Thank you again everyone!

Chrono,
The fact of the matter is that these pictures stink!! My camera just isn't very effective unless I'm wearing a stone in a ring, and I can take it out in the sun. The indoor lighting somehow messes up my white balance, and incandescent lighting is even worse!! The two trillion spinels are beautiful, and I wish I could convey that in a photo somehow.

No plans yet for the newer pinker Mahenge. I wish I could have set that one and the redder one in a bypass somehow, but I already purchased a setting for the redder one.

TL, these three are just gorgeous!!! I'm really digging the reddish pink intense mahenge, but that purple/blue spinel is  !!!

TL they are all stunning! Which one has stronger/better fluor?

In that case, just send all 3 stones to me so I'll be able to see how good they look in person for myself. If I declare that they have a brown or gray modifier, I will spare your eyes the pain and keep them here for safekeeping. I was thinking how wonderful the 2 spinels will be in a bypass; it's not too late though, you can either keep the new setting or have it as a spare for a future trillion.

Thanks Uppy, I have to set the purple spinel soon!

Davi, They both have strong fluor but I haven't compared the strength.

Chrono, please take my word for it that the more saturated of the two trillions looks like your avatar photo in certain lighting. It's a magnificent Mahenge, and worthy of it's own setting, but I have toyed with the idea of doing another bypass. Even a three stone ring isn't out of the question with these three. :naughty:

I love the picture of the pinks and violet. They look so pretty together! Great stones, TL. :))

TL, love the violet spinel and the two Mahenges are defintely not shabby either!!!

Thank you for posting these! I love spinels (my user pic is a pink spinel!)
The saturation in the reddish pink one is especially lovely, like a hot strawberry!

I think those two red /pink ones would look really pretty worked into a design together. A bypass would be pretty or even a bracelet. The violet one would look great as a ring or a pendant. Nice gems!

The trillions would look nice in high carat gold.
