Finally getting a chance to post some photos of my collet pear ring in 18k white and yellow gold. I am home quarantined with covid so perfect excuse to do nothing but play with blings. I am ever so grateful for all the research post, photos and advise from all members, and so now it is my turn to share in hopes that this may help another PSer with their next project. This project started with finding a gorgeous pair of OECs at Ivy&Rose. Ivy&Rose graded them as J and 1.19cttw about 5.20mm. The antique cut pear is a GIA J .92ct 8.11 X 5.87. The halo is .41cttw of I-J tiny fiery baby oecs. The fabulous David Klass brought my haphazard vision to fruition with the help of so many PSers. As always, he was patient with all the questions and minute changes.

Thank you to everyone that helped, sorry it took so long to post photos.
This is the thread with all the help I got in deciding on the setting https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/shank-cad-help.268956/

Oh I can’t see the pics :( but I know and love this ring from your profile pic!

Also, is there a thread on your antique pear? I’d love to hear her origin story:)

None of the pics show unfortunately!

I can’t wait to see but I can’t see any of the pics! I can’t see any of your pics on the “gap” thread either!

I hope this works because I have no problem seeing it on my end.

Thank you lulu ma. I love your Collette. She is so beautiful. My pear is not a true antique pear but a new antique cut pear that I picked up from Alex Weber on Instagram.

Yes I can see the new pics! Very pretty, love any antique pear and lovely OECs!

Aww. I can see the new pics. New or old-she’s a real beauty!

What a beautiful and unique setting. I love it.

Oh shoot... so weird that I can see the photos. Let me try again.

Aaaaaaaah soooo gorgeous! It is the best! Stunned at the beautiful contrast and definition from the patinated collet setting - the diamonds really pop. Congratulations on completing your beautiful ring.

Ooh this is fabulous, love the contrast of the YG and black collet! Just wondering if that’s a black rhodium plating or blackened silver?

+1 I'm also loving the look of the black rhodium... it enhances the cut of the diamonds all the more and makes them pop! Enjoy, @Diamondbug!!
Yes it does make it pop... I've had more people comment and ask to look at it because it is not something you see around here.

What a beautiful and unique setting. I love it.
Thank you Mreader. The rhodium plating is definitely different than the shiny blingy look.

Thank you @LightBright . If I could redo it, I would make the collet in the halo wider/bolder.

Thank you. It is black rhodium plating.

This is a gorgeous 3 stone! :kiss2::kiss2::kiss2::kiss2:

Thank you ZestfullyBling! LOVE LOVE LOVE your pear pendent in your profile photo!! So gorgeous.

Edit to ask if you a thread on the gorgeous pendent?

Hi @Diamondbug love what you made! I never considered a two tone with black rhodium and… I love it!

I’m doing a project with DK and getting super stuck on which YG to choose but I love the YG of your band based on the photos you posted. Is that his normal 18k YG? It looks to be warmer than other pictures I’ve seen but possible it could be the lighting?

How exciting! Can't wait to see the new bling! I think it is his normal 18k gold. He never said anything different though I went back and checked emails, and I did mention to him that I wanted a richer buttery yellow 18k gold so maybe he did use a different 18k metal mix. Best to ask him if its possible.

Thanks! Interesting that you just went with his 18k without qualms and it came out so nice! Maybe I’ll send over the picture of your ring as a touch point for what type of YG I prefer :)

hahaha... its either because I didn't know any better so didn't worry about it or that I trust DK. I'm going with I trust DK!! I sent him lots of inspo photos and they were all vintage rings so he knew the look I was going for. You are welcome to share the photos.

I also wonder if the gold looks richer because of the contrast next to the black rhodium. I took a peak at your threads and saw that you are thinking of using 22k. I would ask DK about it. He will be honest and tell you about the durability. I had a couple designer platinum rings that went off round because I am so hard on my rings so I was very leery about making a plat ring but David assured me his plat ring will not bend, and for now, fingers crossed, I have yet to bend it.

@Diamondbug thanks for sharing your experiences and for looking and my other posts! I definitely can get hyperfixated on color and don't want to compromise and receive a shade that I don't love. I did ask if I could stop by and see ALL the golds side by side but I didn't get confirmation on that and I suppose they don't have all the pieces in their store front all at one time?

I also did wonder about your gold looking deeper contrasting with the black rhodium. Who knows! Pictures are also very tricky. Yeah I think I will share your photo (thanks for letting me share!) and let them know my preference and trust them when it comes to the color tone and their perspective of durability. I mean he has been doing this for a very long time and with a great track record (my first time using him!) so there is a level of underlying trust already.

Thank you again!
