The good news: I''ve been with this fabulous man for 3 years.
The bad news: He already told me that I won''t be getting a ring.
While on vacation last week, sitting in the airport bar drinking beer while waiting for our delayed plane, we started talking about a friends wedding, which led into a discussion of us having a wedding. We agreed that Fall 2009 would be best (avoid the AZ summer heat), I told him I was thinking November, he said he was thinking October; we started discussing attendants and guests, and things like that. I didn''t want him to shut down from wedding pre-planning overload so I didn''t even begin to touch on colors, flowers, venues, or caterers! We''ll save that for later.
So, anyway I was pretty happy that he contributed to the conversation and didn''t just excuse himself to go get another beer and never come back.
Over the weekend we were discussing a trip we have tentatively planned, that now may be difficult to swing thanks to a certain airline that canceled the flight we wanted and is charging out the wazoo for the other flights to to the island. "We may want to forget about taking this trip if it gets too expensive. I mean, there is a wedding to pay for and sparkly things to buy," he says smiling and wiggling the fingers on his left hand. Yaaay--he brought it up all on his own! Then he tells me, "I know our anniversary is coming up, but I don''t have a ring. I don''t want to get you something that you don''t really want, so I haven''t gotten you one yet." Ok, fair enough. So I remind him that he had once mentioned getting a stone and putting it in a temporary setting, "And we can pick out the real setting together, and that way when you propose, it''ll be a total surprise!" I hope he understood that I was not suggesting that he run out and get something just to have for our anniversary! And no, I don''t think he was just saying that to throw me off track--we''re each have other things going on tonight and won''t see each other until late.
Oh, and what''s with Cartier and Tiffany on Michigan Ave in Chicago closing at 6:00pm?! We went to Chicago on vacay and were window shopping on Mich Ave, and when we saw the Cartier store, he asked if I wanted to go in and look at the sparklies. You know I did! But when we got up to the store (it was about 7:00pm), they were closed!
Same thing with Tiffany. WTF?! Was it past the sparklies'' bedtime or something?!
Anyway, that''s all I have in the way of updates at this time. Sorry it wasn''t more interesting--I''m kinda tired and ready to leave work now.
