This is what my ACA looks like taken from an iphone with a gold case, and with a white kleenex covering the case. No wonder all my pics of my ring disappoint me! off to buy a WHITE case!

(also, I cleaned it this AM, but apparently not well enough)

LOL! glad you figured the cause out so fast!

Wow, what a difference!

Oh I know, it really makes a difference - I tape a piece of white paper to the back of my phone to take diamond pics!

Great ideas! I also have gone so far as to make a white cone out of paper to eliminate surrounding color/s to show it more accurately when taking pictures of diamonds. It’s crazy how finicky we can be when it ones to this stuff.

I suppose that would be easy too, ha!

but it’s really pretty with all the gold and pinky colours reflected!:oops2:
Tho it’s noticeably whiter without the case reflecting too

Wow! What a difference!!

My case is rose gold so I guess it won't be a problem!

It figures that jewelry lovers would have gold phone cases. Mine has gold glitter.

What a difference! My case is white and silver glitter. Maybe that's why I never noticed it.

This is very interesting. I never thought about it, I have a black case and will have to experiment with the white paper this weekend! :rolleyes2:

Buy one of Angie Crabtree cases! Mine is grey and white with some blues. It makes my diamond so clean looking. Plus diamond case ;)

Wow, you know that makes sense. Cannot believe I never realized that as I was taking photos of Bea. My phone case is dark brown. :geek2:Next case will be an Angie Crabtree case if I can get it with a wallet attachment. I love @madelise 's greg and white with some blues. Perfect color combo.:kiss2:

How did I not know about this?!

Im so glad i read this thread!! Lately ive been bemoaning my choice of diamond, thinking i should have held out for a higher color. Then i read this. And realized....ive been mostly admiring my diamond in the same window, bc its a large bay with lots of light.....PROBLEM: i have ivory colored sheer curtains!!! :doh:I pulled them back.....voila, white diamond again!! Thanks, HNL, your observation stopped my negative thoughts.

HAHAHAHAHA I think it was the tone in which I read this...but I just choked on my tea!

I created a simple white paper tube that I can clip onto my iPad Pro when taking pics to block out surrounding colors from impacting the color (aside from the obvious ‘white’ from the paper). Thought this may give a good example of the difference not only your phone/tablet case but your surrounding room colors & light can impact diamond pics.

So then I had the thought to use a simple piece of white 8.5x11” cardstock that I have on hand, poke a hole in it for my iPad’s camera, and clip it onto my iPad with a binder clip so that it doesn’t overly-artificially ‘white out’ my diamond by still allowing some surrounding light & environmental color to more accurately reflect what I see in person, and this really achieves that! The image on the left is far more close to what my eyes see in my diamond in person/IRL.

My case is turquoise— hence the turquoise arrows, which I

I had always wondered why you have those gorgeous blue flashes in all your pics!

I mean, come on. This was taken with my NEW, WHITE PHONE CASE!!! From now on whenever someone asks to see an I-colored stone, I can actually impress them.

THAT is pretty amazing & gorgeously captures your diamond!:love:

OMG! This changed my picture taking game!!!! Thanks for letting me know! I was wondering why my pictures were turning out so dark. (I have a black phone case)

Ummmm.....you were always impressing me, lol! Its so beautiful!! But im glad you can enjoy your pictures (i know we all do!!!). Honestly, i saw the color before. But i knew it had to be a reflection, bc the colors remimded me of carnival glass. Yeesh...now i want a diamond the color of carnival glass.
