Just read about this in the UK Financial Times ( Feb 1-2, 2025) which states it is a patented “platform “ setting from New Zealand that appears to “ defy gravity” set without prongs or bezels that uses ‘micro engineered’ round brilliant diamond ( does this mean lab created?) and supposedly tech savvy male buyers admire the tech behind it. Anyone seen or heard of this?

no but I want to.

Here is a link to their site: https://floeting.com/

On a quick look, I can't see technique described. I'm guessing it's a variation on the VCA 'mystery' setting. Maybe with laser cutting to inscribe a groove in the pavilion?

I know nada about how jewelry is put together, except the very basics.. prong set, bezel set . This almost looks like a very minimal bezel type setting to me. I’d be afraid to bump a ring on something and lose the stones or stones in it. They are pretty pieces though.

Certainly very cool. It did not jump out at me as something I need or want. It even makes me a little anxious. I don't mind nice prongs at all and they can even be attractive design elements. (Big, blobby ones not so much -- we have some of those.)

It may be adequately secure but I can't imagine it could be as secure as prongs -- and diamonds fly out of prong settings all the time. Also, @Starstruck8 implies that it damages the pavilion -- how would you get an "X" for polish? It's unlike a lasered ID on the girdle, imo.

I agree. It makes me more than a little anxious too! I just don't think I could wear it comfortably.
