Has anyone hear of Tiffany''s IRON ring? Pic attached. It''s all shiny after a polish, looks about like silver, then it begins to oxidize and within a matter of days it looks like a matte brownish/black titanium. I wish I could find a pic online post-oxidization!

My question is, would iron be a poor choice for a wedding band? For any reason? Probably wouldn''t be sizeable, but neither are some of the other popular metals.

Thoughts, anyone?

The oxidation means that the iron is going away, so the ring will definitely lose mass over time. Things like heavily chlorinated hot tubs or acidic sweat will accelerate the oxidizing process. It can probably be waxed with car wax to help create a barrier though. Everyday wear and abrasion might very well keep the ring from looking as dull as if it were to sit in a box. If it''s formed from solid bar like titanium rings are, it could probably be stretched a bit if necessary.

Thanks boone! Really useful info, I appreciate it
