Yesterday the BF and I went to Tiffanys to get my one and a half year anniversary gift (and a baby shower gift0! (Which is basically an excuse for him to buy me something pretty and for a ''reason'' instead of looking whipped
he''s so cute).
Anyways, we went in and immediately I saw the engagement rings! I wanted to look but didn''t want to get in the way of other people that wanted to "seriously" look. Instead we went to pick out the necklace or ring that I''ve been dying for
. We wait at the counter for what seemed like FOR-EV-ER. I was about ready to leave when someone finally noticed us and asked if we needed help. She was a super sweet lady and helped me pick out the Elsa Peretti open heart pendant (small). We decided to add another 2 inches to the chain. She said it needed to be sent to NY for them to do that and the charge was $16-- which is no big deal, but if anyone knows, whats the difference? Online you can get the 18" chain for the same price. Whatever though, I was really excited to get my necklace!!
We then looked at the Frank Gehry Torque ring. They didn''t have the size I wanted so we passed on that
.. but then asked if we could look at engagement rings
. She was so so so nice!
So the BF is kinda looking weird and green at this point from buying the most expensive baby shower gift he''s ever had to buy
so I figured it would be fine looking at rings. I tried on SO many beautiful rings! I tried on a 2 Ct D which was $69k (which is funny enough the same price as my college). After looking at that one, I had to say.. "Yeah.. we''ll be under the carat range." I tried on some half carats, and some 3/4 cts that were so sparkly and pretty! At the same time, right next to us a guy had just bought his GF an engagement ring and proposed in the store.. they had some bubbly and looked so excited! I think because I was all wrapped up in the store, the bright lights and everything I actually said, "I want a Tiffany ring! I''ll wait another year for it if I have to.."
Yeah. That''s really nothing I''d ever say in a million years. But the whole store was So pretty and sparkly and made me want A TIFFANY RING.
This morning though, I get on here and start plugging in the numbers for James Allen and WF.. and see that for US and our BUDGET, it would be beyond stupid for me to request a ring half the size that I want, to pay double the actual price for it.
So, I just called the BF and said, "I have some big news, I DO NOT WANT A TIFFANY RING." He said, "Are you sure? Because I know it''s the setting you want.. so in some ways, it''s worth the extra money, but in some ways, it''s not!" I told him its not about the ring, really, just about him and I. So yes... I just wanted to write about my revelation in the last 12 hours. Also, the WF knife edge setting is so darn close to a Tiffany! No one would know the difference....
Thanks for listening! I''m trying to get my head on straight.... hmmmm time to take the cake out of the oven now! Perfect timing
