Hi All,

My budget for an engagement ring is 10,000 dollars, is that close enough to buy a tiffany''s ring? If not, I''m willing to save 5 thousand more dollars. Is that still enough or is it still out of my league?

I believe there's quite a range of price to Tiffany's ring. You can have a ring for 5K, or 10K or even 15K. It depends on the size + quality of the stone you're looking to buy.

Do you have a size you're looking for in mind? Additionally, do you have to have the Tiffany stamp on the ring?

If it is important to have the Tiffany stamp on the ring, then that's fine. If it is not, then you can have a good quality diamond + Tiffany-like setting for less than what you pay for at Tiffany's.

Either way, it depends on you and what you're looking for.
However, it seems like you have a pretty good idea as to how much you're willing to spend.

As mentioned you can get Tiffany Rings for that price.

Anyone of the great PS vendors here can custom make a ring to be nearly identical to what they sell (setting), have better cut diamonds (IMHO), and be nearly half the price (or have much larger diamonds)

But if you have to have that "Tiffany" stamp for the name/romance and for the quality (they are very good!) - but you will pay a premium for it.

Before you head to a store, I suggest you look around at all types of stone shapes and settings and determine which you like the most. Then shop around at stores of all brands and qualities and try on different styles and different shaped stones. Always do your homework before you buy ANYTHING!

Once you have a narrower scope of what you are looking for and a budget, then I suggest you contact vendors on PriceScope and see what they can offer you. You may be surpsied at what you can get for Tiffany prices!

Good luck and I wish you the best whatever ring you choose, but the rule here is, you have to post pictures of whatever you get!

Hi spkooky,

I was once in your very same shoes 7 months ago, and I listened to what all these folks had to say about checking out the pricescope vendors. Besides shamelessly plugging those that I've talked to, it's suffice to say that I found a much more beautiful diamond through a pricescope vendor (than I would of ever found at tiffany's), for a much better price, and had a great experience! Happy Hunting

I am looking for a Tiffany ring on a comparable budget, and yes, $10,000 is enough for a Tiffany ring, the setting itself costs around $1400, the overall cost depends almost entirely on what size diamond you want. But if you do choose to buy from Tiffany, you will certainly get a smaller diamond for your money.

Tiffany''s only accepts high quality diamonds that are above VS-2 clarity and I in colour. You should not worry about getting a higher clarity than VS-2, there are no visible inclusions so there is no need to go any better on such a tight budget. The trade-off between colour and size is entirely up to you. I emailed Tiffany yesterday and got a prompt response, I emailed them back my budget this afternoon and they are going to give me an idea of the ranges of size and colours I will be able to afford. on such a tight budget, I hope to get a 1.00 carat diamond, VS-2 clarity and the best colour I can, though I doubt it will be lower than near-colourless H which I believe that is alright (certainly better than anything you''d get in a mall)

I also asked them if they can provide information regarding the measurements for the table and depth and the angles of the pavillion and crown on any rings I was interested in - (I will let you know if they can.)

These measurements are important because they determine the diamonds brilliance, dispersion, fire, presence, sparkle whatever you want to call it. for more information goto http://diamonds.pricescope.com/ideal.asp for an easy to use "gemadviser" that gives you information regarding 1. light return 2. fire 3. scintillation 4. spread (diameter)

My advise to you would be to read the information this site freely provide, I really cannot recommend it highly enough - it has been very helpful to me. http://diamonds.pricescope.com/ After that, I would email Tiffany expressing interest and requesting further information, give them your budget and ask them to have a look at a range of options

I want the very best, afterall my gf will be looking at it everyday for the rest of her life. I do plan on buying from Tiffany, but I also want to be sure that the diamond is below 2 on the Holloway range.

hope this helps,
I wish you all the best

I will post again as soon as I hear from Tiffanys

p.s. I don''t know the email address, I just went to their website, clicked on the schedule a consultation link and asked them if they could email me some information, as I live so far away from the nearest store as to make a consultation impossible
