I am so saddened by this news. I literally gasped when I read about it on CNN. I live in the DC metro area and my boss saw him at Opening Day this year ... apparently, he was a big Nats fan. Election coverage will not be the same.

My heart goes out to his family.

and his co-workers. If you heard Tom Brokaw''s announcement of his death, it was obvious that the entire NBC family was so fond of Tim. This is so sad.

This is sooooo sad.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I am so sad about this! When I got the news update from WTOP I couldn''t believe what I was seeing. I watched the Brokaw piece on CNN.com and it was hard to watch. This election won''t be the same without Tim. I miss him already.

Tim was one of my all time favorite. I felt he remained honest and fair.
I loved the report Fox had about Tim wanting to buy his dad a new car. His dad
picked out a Crown Vic. Tim said, dad why not a Lexus, a Mercedes? dad didn''t want
to show off - he wanted the Ford.

Oh my god! I didn''t read the news today so I saw this first here. He was so young!!!

I watch him every election and love his commentary. Man, it really won''t be the same without him.

This makes me so sad--my heart goes out to his family, both at home and at NBC.

This is so very, very sad. I loved watching him on Meet the Press...he was such a talented and gifted journalist.

So sad - and he had just come back from his son''s college graduation. I can''t imagine how heartbreaking this must be for his family.

Let this be a reminder to us all to guard our health and the health of our loved ones the best that we can!

So sad! We need MORE balanced, intelligent, thoughtful people in the world, not fewer.

Ditto all the above. Such a shock.

I''d come here to look for this thread, or start it. This is so sad, and shocking. Tim seemed so good...well researched, engaging, very real.

A great loss to us all.

The few times we met him on Nantucket, he was real, and very down to earth He had a great sense of humor as well.
It''s a loss for our country, we lost a great man.

I''ve been so sad about the loss of Tim Russert since reading about his death on the MSNBC website in the middle of the night.
We have so few "great" people in this mediocre world we live in, but Tim Russert was truly one of the greats. I''ve enjoy watching him and listening to him speak for years. It''s going to be awfully hard for NBC News to find someone to fill his shoes.
He will be missed.....
