I swear its the last earring upgrade.:oops2: Last upgrade was 6 years ago (a record!)

My last studs came from IDJ @ 1.23tcw GIA EX3, eye clean HCA 1.4/1.3 They're gorgeous. admittedly I want bigger. I've thought about it for over a year so, not a passing fancy.

At the moment I'm all over the place: Whiteflash, IDJ, and B2C. Other places I should consider please let me know.

Not looking at any D-F because they're too white and too expensive. G is borderline. H-I is the sweet spot on most GIA stones I've seen. J-M? perfectly acceptable if not yellow on the face up. I'm fine with light brown undertone. I'm looking to really stretch the funds as far as I can!

8-10K for stones, can maybe got a smige higher. That means likely J-M I'm good with SI if eye clean. also can go no bigger than 7mm because it would look kinda silly otherwise.

Colored stones I'm good at. Diamonds, not so much. Some hand holding is going to be really helpful because I don't know all the ins and outs , though I don't have great ear size so that will be helpful, may as well fill the space though!!!

What color metal will you be using? Prong or bezel set? I'm only asking because I have K stones with faint brown set in rose gold and they look very white, not brown at all, but also not yellow at all. I also have K stones (no tint) set in yellow and they don't look yellow to me at all, and do look white. They are both bezel set. I'm not sure what the K's would look like in white metal though. I'm not a fan of yellow tinted stones, so if I were putting lower color stones in white, I again would look for K's with faint brown just to make sure I didn't see any yellow. I got the ones set in rose from James Allen. Took some time hunting for stones with the K and faint brown with PS parameters, but I found them and they were priced very well. I got one of the ones set in yellow from Blue Nile to match an ACA that I bought preloved. Again, the one from BN is within PS parameters and is a very good match to the ACA. So you could look there as well.

I would have to go with a basket set (as low profile as I can) I wanted to explore getting unplated white gold (18K ) because from what I've seen, can go very well with these lower colors.

I haven't heard back from IDJ yet on details of the pair they showed me (they did a video) and while they were up to the size (3tcw!) Boy you could really see that yellow tint! I don't believe they have a report as they gave me a I-J spread.

I looked at this one at whiteflash

and its gorgeous. I'm drawn to it unlike some other's I've seen as it seems to me that its extra fiery. There's a tint but might be workable, def. not annoying k I just can't find anything to match it :roll2: (figures) .

But, I'm just getting started....

You mentioned 7mm as your upgrade size goal, but that might be a stretch on a $10k budget. It might be wise to first determine the exact size you need to make sure you will never have the urge to upgrade again. :eek-2:

If it stays at 7.0mm your best bet will be to enlist our eagle-eyed diamond experts to help you find a great deal.

To help you narrow things down a bit, I think the extra expense of H&A might be great for a diamond that is going to sit on your finger, but for sure you will not be able to see that facet pattern in your ear! And next to nobody would be able to recognize it from distance. Would a less expensive, but very well-cut diamond be sufficient?

Gotta ask. How do you feel about lab?
The price differential...
Gotta at least ask the question.

I appreciate the ask. Lab stones do nothing for me. My wallet wishes I felt differently...lol

@prs LOL This much I agree with! I don't need to be at 7mm thats only as big that I can go. I'm looking (realistically) around 6.25-6.5mm size range but if things present themselves that I can go that high, awesome.

I recall (hopefully correctly) that a stone that isn't so great for on the hand may be a better bet for the ear.

I just don't know what the specs for that is!

Also while I do love the thought of a super ideal, I do want stones mostly thats just plain beautiful. These are gonna be my big girl diamonds.

About an hour ago my husband asked what I was doing. I said "spending money"

PriceScope Proportions Chart.png

I believe this is the latest version of @Garry H (Cut Nut) 's proportion chart. it would appear to point to the left hand side of the chart for earrings. However the "brightness" arrow at the bottom seems to have its labels backwards!

I feel the same way about lab stones - not for me.

Nicely matched non-H&A, in budget, almost meets your size ask, not your typical PS preferred proportions but will be very firey under a variety of lighting types.

Whoa, look at the lower girdle facets on these babies!!! :kiss2: Somebody is going to grab these!

@yssie. OMG. Those are really gorgeous!

I think you should seriously consider those that @yssie has suggested. And grab them if you want them as you know there are lurkers!
