Do we? How much?

My DJ is just playing a long list of songs we gave him.

No introductions, no garter, no cake push a long. Just music.

Help please

I was wondering about this too!

I''m not tipping my DJ-he owns his company and I''m paying him $750 so I think that''s plenty. I''m not tipping anyone but my hair stylist and make up artist the day of. Everyone else''s ridiculously expensive fees are going straight into their own pockets, so I don''t think it''s necessary to tip them, whether it''s proper to or not.

And the servers'' tips are included in my catering charge (I asked), so no need to tip them. We''ll have so much to deal with the day of I can''t even imagine trying to slip someone a tip. Some of my vendors told me they typically get paid the day of instead of beforehand, and I had to basically beg a few into letting me pay early because I don''t want to deal with it the day of!

We had to tip everyone, in cash no less.

I tipped mine $100 which sucked because he was a friend and he was charging me a ton already. I had to pay for his hotel room too! I had to prepare tip envelopes for every single server (11), the caterers, florists you name it. The florist I could have just given a bottle of wine to... maybe I did. My planner didn''t need a tip either but I gave her one because she was so great. I had to tip the hair and makeup people to.

I won''t be tipping my DJ. He already costs $950 for 5 hours and I think that''s more than enough pay for a nights work. Plus he is self-employed so he takes home 100% of what we''re paying him.

I believe etiquette says that if a vendor is the owner of the company, you do not need to tip. Otherwise, I''d tip based on how pleased I was with the service provided.

I do not think it matters if you ask your DJ to only play a list of songs or if you ask him to provide/pick his own musical selection and announce everything. If your DJ plays all the songs as requested by you, he has done a good job and done exactly what you wanted. I do not think he should be tipped less than normal because you believe you gave him an easy job.

Phhhheeewww, thanks ladies. He does own his own company/side gig of DJ-ing is what it actually is.

I am bartering horse riding lessons for his kid, for his services of DJ for out wedding. The riding lessons are going to be $400.00. So, even though I am doing the $ in barter I still should not feel like I have to give his a tip?

I too am trying to pay for everything before the wedding. I do not want to be rinning around with envelopes! The caterer will not let me pay until the day of though....

Violet02 - why did you have to tip so much? You had a very big wedding huh?
