I''ve looked at several titanium sites and they seem to have the same styles and names but their prices are quite different. Why is that?

This is where I''m thinking of getting our rings from (if we can''t have our other wedding rings sized). Has anyone had experience with them? They''re prices seem very reasonable.

It is not cleat which site you are looking at.../www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]

About prices, well, I guess there are three factors to consider: the alloy (there two or three different grades of Titanium sold, some stronger than others, all much stronger than usual jewelry metals), the design (and you will se that designs are quite similar, with only a few makers bringing out new shapes and technology) well and the marketing clout of the seller. I guess titanium is still a borderline novelty in the e-ring world, so there is allot of experimentation with pricing. I feel that prices for TI jewelry depend more on the profile of the seller rather than the product itself. /www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]

Mara has bought (or is getting) a Ti band, as far as I know. I have tried some pieces and love the color and weightlessness of Ti

For nice pricing, Boone Titanium is probably close to rock-bottom, and their products are retailed by quite a few of the above firms I suspect. Same goes for http://www.titaniumeden.com//www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]

To be honest, I am not sure there are huge variations in craftsmanship / quality (unless you are looking at tension settings, which hold their on challenge) since working with Ti is already rather technologically challenging. So? If you are paying too much it is not going to be for the product itself but for the name alone; and while this is true for quite a few makers anyway, I believe it is even more so about Ti pieces./www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]

Hope these list from among my "notes to self" about Ti jewelry will help a bit. best of luck shopping!

I just have a few questions about titanium...is it more durable than gold? What are the benefits of a titanium ring? Is titanium engravable? Thanks for the help. =-D

About titanium... Ti is an order of magnitude taugher than platinum (like plat. it gets a patina of small scratches, but somewhat less). It surely is engravable but not as easily as traditional jewlery metals, so, while getting a ring engraved with letters and digits inside or out is straightforward, it is some wild goose hunt to find an engraver crazy enough to engrave Ti by hand with anything else. As oposed to jewelry metals, Ti is elastic - which makes it trully suitable for tension setting.

There are three major complaints about Ti for jewelry uses (I do not subscribe to these, but just citing them as warnings here): it is too light (matter of taste, why would one want havy jewelry?), it is too dark (a deeper gray than plat. quite obvious in satin finishes but not so much so on polished surfaces), and is hard to work with (sizing is imposible, and so is making prings and other samll parts which makes Ti designs typically streamined and futuristic given technical constraints).

This is about all I know. These and other details (such as alloys) are discussed on some Ti selling sites, such as THIS

Hope this helps.

I bought a titanium ring from Boone Rings for my wedding band I have absolutely no complaints! Check out the following thread:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/boone-titanium-ring.10000/

I think the light weight of the ring is the most appealing aspect of the ring.

We are getting my fiance's ring from www.absolutetitanium.com and they build the rings custom for your stone (if you do tension which we are). They are great to work with so far, answering all my questions and someone else on here worked with them and got a tension set mens ring as well and was very happy.

Make sure your fiancee wants titanium, it's a very modern look and she may not like it when on. IMO it's more a man thing but some women look very good with the color against their skin!

Titanium rings can actually be stretched by a ring stretcher up to about a half size. It takes a lot more effort than a gold ring, but it can be done.
