Aw Lisa, I think you''re being a bit hard on yourself, and I bet your hubby will say the same thing.Date: 6/16/2008 1:12:13 AM

Ellen,
This thread means a lot to many. You are so very thoughtful. My husbands father died when he was 11. Today, it was all about my husband. He was playing in a Father / Son golf tournament. There was a lunch afterwards, tons of friends were around us. But I should have taken the time, once home to say, gosh this is a hard day for YOU. No matter how long someone is gone, the pain lingers, and the person that has passed needs to be recognized. Tomorrow, I plan on doing something to make up for my lack of a brain today.
You're welcome. I totally relate to your situation, so I can understand just how much you miss him. I think that is so sweet to go to the resturant in his honor, though I can imagine it's still hard.Date: 6/16/2008 8:40:35 AM

Thank you for this thread Ellen. I lost my dad May 11th 2005. Everday it still hurts since my dad and I were super close. He was everything to me, especially since I don't have a good relationship with my mother.
In my late teens, I started taking my dad to Legal Seafoods for his birthday and Father's day, rather than give him gifts. He had been living in Boston for 38 years, loves seafood and had never been to this restaurant and loooooved to eat. So now I still go to Legal's, most of the time by myself, in honor of him. The first Father's Day in 2005 was hard. I'm sitting at my table and tears came into my eyes. I was so embarrassed I told the bartender.
