I always thought I''d try to sell my Maggie Sottero gown after the wedding on pre-owned or oncewed or something to try and get at least a little money back. DH and I payed for most of our wedding ourselves and could really use the money. But I was wondering what all you brides/wives have done or are planning to do. If you sold your gown, did you regret it at all?

I''d sell it. Unless you are sentimental or will use it to make a christening gown, get did of it. I plan on selling mine. I''d rather my mum had some of the money back than have it sat at the back of my closet.

Check out preownedweddingdresses.com. They claim to sell a pretty high percentage of dresses listed if you are truly interested. I have never been married, but I think it''s great when people sell their dresses to allow others a chance to wear a dress she couldn''t pay full price for

I sold mine and used the proceeds to help buy a beautiful ring-so I now have something I can actually use everyday from my wedding dress. And no I don''t regret it one bit!

I have always loved this idea, neat!

I do think I will sell my dress. I would love to think it got to be used and loved again. While I think it is fabulous, I don''t need it hanging around my closet my whole life to remember how I feel/felt about it.

I donated my dress to makingmemories.org, but kept the accompanying shawl as a keepsake.

eta: I thought I would feel pangs of remorse or longing, but it felt great giving to a good cause.

I''m going to keep mine. If I ever have a black tie event, it will totally come in handy.

I totally plan on selling mine, once I get it cleaned. I just can''t see moving it from place to place with us as the Army shuffles us around. Plus I think about how I didn''t want to wear my mother''s dress, so I find it hard to believe my daughter (if I have one) would want to wear mine.

Heh, I would sell my dress since I'm not really the type to keep things in boxes in the attic. But I don't think anyone would actually buy my dress. So I might just convert it to a short cocktail dress instead.

Well, actually I'll probably used it as a renaissance costume until the bottom gets too dirty, and then I'll hem it to a cocktail dress..hehe.

Yeah, much harder to sell non-label quirky dresses I'm guessing.

I know girls who have sold their dresses, none have said they missed them.

I always said I would sell my wedding dress. That was until I put it on. And fell in love. Head over heels in love. No way I am gunna sell it! Gunna wear it every year on our anniversary!

Me too! I figure i can get 2 more wears out of after the 2 times i get to wear it when i get married. I want to see if i can get it dyed black (or another colour) and then maybe the year after that get it cut to knee length. My dress doesn''t scream wedding though, so i think i will get away with it.

If not i could probably sell it and get all my money back for it as am paying only half of what it costs to buy here in Australia. (I''m buying online from the US).

Sell it...mines'' been setting in its box in the top of my closet for 10 years...what a waste...I''d rather have some money
to spend on a jewelry project that I could actually use (like neatfreak said!)

I''m sentimental, so I kept my dress.

I would donate mine to Brides Against Breast Cancer or something like that. Selling it is a good option too. However, husband wants me to keep it. No idea why, since I''ll never wear it again, and I''m not planning on having kids (but even if I had a daughter, I''d want her to choose her own dress rather than wear a dated old relic). He says it''s for sentimental value, but I just don''t understand the value of keeping a dress in a closet...

Maybe he wants to surprise you with a vow renewal ceremony one day?

Hehe, in that case I''d DEFINITELY donate the dress. Then you could go dress shopping all over again! I love my dress, don''t get me wrong, but I wouldn''t mind getting and wearing a different one for a renewal

Haha! But if I had a vow renewal, I certainly wouldn''t wear the same dress again. Dress shopping is too much fun for that!

I really want to sell mine however my fiance is very sentimental and he wants me to keep it. He hasn''t even seen it yet so I don''t know why but I''m not going to argue that one.

I was ready to sell my wedding dress online, and then I told my husband. He was not too thrilled with the idea. He said that my dress was one of his favorite things about our wedding and he wants to keep it. Who would have thought my husband would be the one to want to keep a huge lace dress that takes up tons of room in the closet?!

I am definitely keeping my dress. My sisters and I plan to wear our wedding dresses together after we all get married (yes, we''re nerds). After that, my aunt suggested using the material to make a quilt, and I really love that idea!

Even before I found my dress (it''s an Amsale), I knew I would donate it. Although a part of me thinks that perhaps I should sell it since we''re paying for the wedding ourselves. Our wedding isn''t unitl March 2010, so I have some time.

I saw a photographer somewhere advertising a "Trash the Dress" photography session, where you and the bridal party go into the woods, beach, etc. and well, trash the dress and/or the rest of the bridal outfits with a photographer commemorating it all on film.

I don''t know how I''ll feel about trashing it once I actually get into one and donating it to a good cause seems well, good. But I have to admit, the photos I saw of brides who decided to burn, maime, drown themselves and their dresses in the ocean looked like they were having a heck of a time... You also won''t see photos like that anywhere else and it''s all unique to you and your wedding party... if you can stomach to be that kind of bride.
