To sell or not to sell?

I currently own two half eternity bangles (both customized with 0.20ct F VS1 stones, total of 3.25ct each bangle) which I stack with my Cartier bangles.

I am thinking if I should sell both bangles and use the fund to buy a pave Love bracelet from Cartier.

I am thinking will I regret selling later? Can I easily buy the same bracelet in the future for the same price?

I really want a Cartier pave, and if I get it, I would like to wear the bracelet on its own and not stacking. Meaning the eternity bangle will be in the safe box. Better to be in safe box or sell now?

Appreciate your advice, thank you

do you have any pictures to show us ?

Personally, I wouldn't sell anything that I wasn't absolutely sure about. You usually take a loss selling secondhand jewelry and then it usually would cost more to re-buy in the future.

Also, to me anyway, I'm often more drawn to something new just because it is new. But once that wears off, who's to say you will even prefer it to the thing/s you're considering selling?

Diamond bangles are a classic that never goes out of style.

JMO though :)

Thank you. You are right it’s a classic that will never go out of style.

Just because if I add the pave Cartier, I will not wear these bangles anymore. So was thinking instead of it sitting in the safe box, I should sell it. But again I have a daughter, may be she can wear it

That’s why I wanted to hear your opinions here.

Love the look above.

Not sure if this is a taste question or an acquisition question.

If this is the target...

..then I vote to enjoy what you have. Yours looks more opulent, timeless, and less of-the-moment. And I love Cartier -- even the branded easy-to-recognize stuff. But what you have looks nicer, imo. Male gaze, for context. :cool2:

Would it help fund the Cartier by just selling one, and keeping the other?

Yes this bangle. Really want it

I don’t really need the fund for the Cartier. Just thinking if I get the Cartier, it’s going to be my full time and only bracelet in my arm. If I stack, it will be with other Cartiers and not the diamond bangles. I think it will be too much to have the diamond angles and Pave Cartier.

Hence was thinking, should I save the bracelet for the future or sell it. Not sure what’s the best. Just don’t like the fact that such beautiful expensive bangles are just sitting in the safe box.

Does such bangles ‘appreciate in value’ in time?

i reacon if you dont need to sell them to fund the new bracelet just hold off selling them
we have all changed our mind over something
i would give it some time just to be sure

I personally would prefer to keep both bangles to wear together or as stackers with other bracelets/bangles myself, as I am not keen on the Cartier bangle.

Each to their own and all that.

DK :))

plus 1
but sometimes the heart desires what the heart desires

I love the stack you have going on!! Gorgeous. But I will say I saw a pave Cartier out in the wild and I couldn’t take my eyes off of it!! Yummy!!

I would be hesitant to sell your bangles. You might have a change of heart in a couple of years and would pay much more to make them again. If you don't need the money to purchase the Cartier bracelet, all the more reason to keep them for now. Revisit them in a couple of years and see how you feel then.

I think getting more back than you initially spent, depends more on the luck of finding a buyer (with similar wrist size) at the same time that is looking for exactly what you want to sell - and current market prices for ‘like’ brand new readily available item has substantially increased. Most people looking in the preloved market aren’t intending to pay current retail, and without knowing how much of a retail price you paid - appreciation value on retail is not common.
Would your vendor do a nice trade in if you were buying more pieces? Maybe.

If each of your diamonds don’t have a GIA report, and it’s a ‘GIA graduate graded assessment’ or something like that - I think it’ll be tougher.

Can you buy another bracelet in a few years down the road same what you paid for these a few years back? Probably not but maybe?

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes the vendor would give me 100% back if I do an exchange with them.

I have GIA certificate for each stone :) I have GIA certificate for all the diamonds I own. I learned a lot from this platform before I started the whole diamond game you guys here have been simply amazing!

Oh my gosh - I would regret selling those beautiful diamond bracelets for a designer bangle!! I know designer allure is real, but from a materials perspective your diamonds are worth SO much more (regardless of which item would COST you more...) and you current stack is sooooooo beautiful!

IF you do sell though, I might be interested

Just my unsophisticated 2 cents: I much prefer your diamond bangles to the all of the Cartier bangles, which have always looked uncomfortable to me.

I'm not sure how well the Cartier bangle price values will hold up in the future. Branded/logo pieces like these are considered a "new money" look, as opposed to "old money/quiet luxury", which is currently a more popular aesthetic. But who knows.

Here is my take; I tend to look more practically about branding, it usually counts against something I look at obtaining because of ephemeral 'lux' cache for a more common piece that is almost never justified.
Your bangles are much more precious as pieces of jewelry. They are timeless. You'll want to wear them again. I would not trade down after taking away brand consideration in practical terms, which is what this would be.

This will be a significant change in the bling factor, diamond wise. I wouldn't sell your bangles until you are sure you are okay with the change.

I am not a brand super fan, so take this for what it is worth to you, but I much prefer your current stack than the single Cartier pave bangle.

The Cartier pave love is a stunning bracelet and I can totally see why you want it. But I feel like your diamond bangles are classics as well.

I actually know someone who has a Cartier pave love bracelet and she wears it alone most of the time but stacks it with a diamond bracelet occasionally. So I think you could get wear out of your pieces even if you have the Cartier.

If you don’t need the money, I’d suggest hanging on to them for a while before selling. Selling is always an option.

You could also repurpose the stones by turning them into a single tennis bracelet - just a thought!

I personally think you shouldn't sell these. They are classic and gorgeous. I don't own any branded jewelry, but do invest in designer handbags which I consider on a similar parallel. I have always been excited when investing in a new one but they do eventually lose their trendiness and I look for something new to scratch the itch. That said, I just this week organized to send one of them for repair to prolong it's life, so I certainly do not regret investing in branded items.

But...classic is classic. Keep the bangles for your daughter if nothing else since you don't need them to finance the new purchase.

Hahahaha your reply made my day! And decided not to sell now thank you for your reply

Thank you for your reply. I am also a bag addict just recently feel like I don’t need more but still obsessed with jewelry. If I add the pave love, then I am done for a long time

Yea I have thought about turning the two bracelets to a tennis too. I am more a bangle person at the moment cause I would not like my tennis bracelet going under the bangle. But yes a tennis is an option especially if I get the pave.

So glad & happy @Sakuramickey
I have a similar bangle in WG, it is a total sparkly bomb, received so much compliments wearing it.
Don’t think you will regret not selling them all.
Good to have choices in life right?

You can do a tennis bangle. I find that a more common thing here in india (because it then looks like the traditional Indian bangle) than the typical tennis bracelet! But they are usually round, not oval shaped, so difficult to stack with Cartier bracelets. Still, if you’re doing a custom bracelet you can have it made to the exact dimensions of your Cartier.
