what color shirt has your groom worn or will he wear? White, off-white or ivory? It seems to be difficult to find ivory tuxedo shirts. If he goes with white, do you think it will look awkward on the pictures standing up next to my ivory dress?

I wore an ivory dress.. hubby wore a brown tuxedo.. with a White shirt... I dont think it was noticeable at all.. In fact.. I have read that an ivory shirt just looks dingy regardless of wheter it is next to a white dress or an ivory dress...

I would suggest a white shirt no matter what!

hope that helps.

He wore a grey suit with pin stripes with a purple shirt and tie :)

But no, I think a white shirt will look just fine with your ivory dress.

definitely white!
(you can see in my post below- my dress=off white, hubby''s white. i agree with jaders, ivory seemed dingy)

My dress was called "candlelight", it was kind of ivory-ish. My husband and all the groomsmen wore white shirts. It didn''t look bad at all. The bit of color my dress showed just gave a warmer feel.

I wore ivory and my husband wore an ivory shirt. The white was too much of a difference and his shirt doesn''t look dingy at all in our pictures. Everyone wore ivory and it looked great...not dirty or dull. You can find my wedding pictures to see for yourself...but it''s all personal preference. That was a big reason why he didn''t wear his mess dress, because you can''t wear an ivory shirt with the Air Force uniform and white would have clashed with my dress too much.

Thanks, ladies. I was pulled to the idea of letting him wear white but after seeing Jesterjigger''s pictures, my confusion got back. Jes, your dress and his shirt looks very warmish white. I wouldn''t think they were ivory if you didn''t tell. Would you mind telling me where he got his shirt from?

Thank you all again!

DH and GMs all wore ivory. Didn''t look dingy in pictures at all. With that said, I think you are fine with either white or off white/ivory shirts.

I wore an ivory dress and since my husband bought his tux, I compared white and ivory under his tux with the tie. I decided to go with the ivory because not only did it look better in photos with my dress, but we were going with really warm colors (dark reds and oranges) so the ivory worked well with them. The groomsmen wore ivory with their dark charcoal pinstriped tuxes and the groom wore ivory with a black tux.

My husband (and all of the groomsmen/dads) rented their tuxes from After Hours. With my complexion I would have looked like a ghost in white, so I had to go with ivory for my gown...and DH is pretty fair too (lots of people tell us we could be brother and sister, lol) so ivory was definitely the right choice for us.

I wore an ivory gown, DH and groomsmen all wore champagne tuxes with (I believe) white shirts...their vests were champagne and ties were champagne with tiny embroidered russet flowers that matched the BM''s bouquets and mine so it all blended together quite well...

Friends just got married, and her dress was ivory (and *gorgeous*!), and the groom wore a white shirt with an ivory vest and tie. Don''t remember what the groomsmen wore actually ... anyhow, here''s a photo of bride and groom''s attire! It was really lovely

My dress is also a barely ivory shade -- not quite white; all my jewelry will be silver in color. But, the FI will wear a white shirt, black tux, silver vest, black and silver tie with very subtle stripe pattern. Other guys will wear black tuxes with no vest, white shirts, silver ties. I did not like the tie/vest combos available at the formalwear shops here, so we bought ties at Macy''s.

I wore ivory, the guys wore white shirts. We tried for a while to find ivory tux shirts, but when we finally did they were way more yellowy than my dress. The white shirts definitely looked best.

The boys really don''t have to match your dress. White shirts look nice and crisp against a black suit, if you are doing black suits.
