today was a good day...

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!!!! Well today was a pretty good day. SO and I went to a friends house for a BBQ, hung out with a bunch of friends and then we excused ourselves and went for a nice walk down to the boardwalk to see the fire worls. Along the walk we held hands and pointed out all the nice houses that we liked and looked at the flowers and were discussing when we would like to get married. We knew next year and were throwing some ideas around, but nothing was decided. By the time we got to the boardwalk and found a nice spot on the beach we layed on a blanked and talked. And we went over the months and days and we DECIDED ON A DATE! WOOHOO! lol. We are getting married on Nov. 14th of ''09

How are things with the FMIL???

Alexis: SO far we havent had a chance to talk cuz everyone has been so busy. BUT I did get a chance to talk to SO about it some more and I asked him if he knew if she had any other problems with us getting married besides the fact that he wanted to marry ME. He said that some of her concerns were the fact that they are Catholic and I am not. So where are we going to get married and HOW are we going to raise our children is a concern to her. He told me that she said ''you gotta think about these things'' And he said ''exactly... I GOTTA think about these things. NOT you''. And we have discussed these things. Where..we arent certain yet. Most likely a Catholic church w/o a full mass. And we decided that since he is semi religious and me not at all, that we would raise them Catholic til they were old enough to decide for themselves. So apparently its not jUST me like SO made it sound in the beginning which is a relief. I do fully intend to sit down with her and try to anwser whatever questions she may have. But I think everything will be alright. Thanks a lot for askin.

Oh, a date! How exciting, sweetie! And great news that you talked further with your boyfriend about it and it''s not just that she had a knee-jerk reaction to your tattoos. I think it will be good to sit down with her (you planning to do it just the two of you like over coffee or something, or with your boyfriend there as well?) and talk things through. Sounds like she wants to be ''in the know'' and will be reassured to hear that you have been talking through this stuff (my mom sometimes assumes J and I haven''t either, which is a smidge insulting since I''m 30 years old and not a kid anymore, but I guess to parents, we''re always kids). I hope it goes well!

Gwendolyn: Thanks hun you are SO SWEET! yes we plan on sitting down with her. I think that since it is more of in general concerns of things that she doesnt think we have thought through ourselves that it MAY be better for BOTH SO and I to sit down with her and have a talk. We''ll prolly invite her out for coffee and dessert or something. Or bring dessert to her house and chat there. Ill update you all as soon as we do. I think that a lot of this is just miscommunication or lack there of on SO''s part with his family...Leave it up to boys to make a mess of things lol (no offense to the guys on this site lol)
