So a little while ago I went rooting around in my jewelry box and I decided that everything I owned was *boring*. Not boring in a tear jerking "I''m going to throw it all in the lake because I hate it" sort of way, but in an "I''m not excited to put any of this on any more" sort of way. So I set out to find something *different*. I really had no idea what I meant by *different* but I figured it would be like pornography; I would know it when I saw it.

Then, a few weeks ago, I was in a tiny resort town in Michigan and I came across some pieces by Todd Reed, one of which made my little heart go pitter pat! It''s a ring made with antique rose cut diamonds, some of which I''m told date back to the 1600s.

I''m having a terrible time capturing the life and true colors of these stones... They glimmer more than they sparkle and the colors are just amazing!

The sizing on these pics is a little wonky so let me get one posted successfully and then go back and do the rest. I''ll also post some text from Todd''s website that I think is really interesting.

The diamonds are different colors and sizes.

OOPS -- sorry, that's almost the same pic!

Thank you Lorelei! I have been in a panic these past few weeks while it was off being sized (it''s still way too big though...

) that I would hate it when it finally came to me, but I do love it. These pics are NOT doing it any justice--especially the sunlight pics I''m about to post in a sec. It''s just impossible to capture these stones.

I love all the rose cuts and all the different colors!! I agree, nothing boring about that ring!!!

Deejay, that is so cool!! Very unique! I love Todd Reed designs (as well as rose cuts). I first saw his work several years ago in some art galleries while on vacation in Colorado. I love his industrial diamonds pieces.

Oh, how beautifully opulent! That is a ring fit for a queen.

One more!

What a beautiful and diverse family.
It is like the Brad and Angelina family of rings!

Wow!! That''s quite a collection! Beautiful!!!

Freke, thank you! One of the stones in the ring is a similar beautiful teal color to the shoe in your avatar but unfortuantely I can''t capture the beauty of it at all.

Catmom, I can''t wait to show this you to! And see--I did finally get me some *c*o*l*o*r*!!!

Portia, Todd''s studio is actually in Colorado, I''m so jealous you were "right at the source"! He will be in Evanston at the American Crafts Exposition (at least I think that''s what it''s called) the weekend of Aug. 22-24 and I want to go and see some more of this stuff becuse the store where I got the ring at only had three pieces.

Circe, maybe not a queen, but perhaps a princess!

I forgot to say in the beginning of my thread what a WONDERFUL experience I have had getting ths ring. As I mentioned I found it in Michgan at a store called Good Goods in Saugatuck and they actually held it for me for almost a week while I hemmed and hawed and tried to decided whether to really buy it, what size it should be, etc. And Todd Reed's service is AMAZING. I was told it would be 4-6 weeks to have this ring sized and it hasn't even been been three weeks. Megaera in Todd's shop is just the loveliest person ever!

Wow, I love this! I especially love the pics of your whole collection!

Dee*Jay! how gorgeous! I just love it, so unique :) What town in MI were you visiting?

ps your collection is just stunning!! Lucky lady!

Ahhh... I did not know this. I just looked at his website and saw that he''s in Boulder. No wonder all the art galleries had his work! I''ll bet they''ll have some really great jewelry at the show. Are ya gonna buy another piece?
