I am head over heels for my mint kornerupine that I acquired from Precision Gem. Out of 13 Mahenge spinel rounds I purchased from Yvonne, only two were the perfect shade of pink to complement the mint kornerupine.
I've had the lilac sapphire since last year. On its own, I passed it over again and again when it came to setting stones, but recently having gotten a trillion Mali garnet with crazy good dispersion, I thought I'd make a lemonade (pink and yellow) toi et moi.
However, in the process of playing around with them in my gem tray, I discovered that I love all these colors together more so than when they are separate. I think they look quite lovely together.
Trouble is, I don't like random cluster designs as much as abstract clusters representative of something.
Last night, I came up with this cluster layout that I considered similar to side view of a butterfly.
DF, however, was simply confused. is this too much of a stretch?
Then I made this layout, using the Mahenge spinels as oversized antennae tips, thinking to make a second bee. However, I think it resembles a bee even less than the other design resembles a butterfly; I just like the addition of the pair of Mahenge spinel I selected.
I don't care particularly for the purple spinel to be included; although it's nice, it's too saturated. It's just there to help create the shapes.
So, what should I do? Keep the lilac sapphire, Mali garnet, mint kornerupine together in the same work, or separate them into 2 or more rings?
