I just bought these 2 lovely stones and want to make a toi et moi.

Here are some styles I like, including the lovely one from @MakingTheGrade.

Edit to add that I dont like these "open" toi et moi designs like the one below, but it's a good example of having 1 stone with halo and another with prongs

I like designs that are non traditional. I also like when the stones have a "tilt" or "angle" to them rather than being straight across.

Maybe using a halo on the smaller stone and a bezel or prongs on the bigger one could be nice.

Thoughts? I'd love inspo pics!

The third pear emerald is one of my holy grail design inspos!:love:
Honestly, any one of your inspos would look killer. Though, I would be tempted to add black rhodium to play up the lovely opal glow they've got going on.

I really love that one. But feel like it would be tricky to "translate" to emerald cuts, especially ones that are 2 different sizes. But its gorgeous. Oooo black rhodium is a good idea! Or if I put a halo around the smaller stone it could be black diamond melee maybe?

That design definitely wouldn't work as well with angular stone shapes. I just, I want it.
Oooh, yes to both, or even really dark gray spinel melee!
I love that first hexagonal and the gradation...just friggin cool.

I Like the idea of one stone with a halo, and one with out, simply because the stones are the same color, and I think it would create a contrast and more interest. I would also do one halo in a warm color of melee like pink.

Yes!! The smaller stone needs the halo so it doesn’t get “lost” in the proportions.

awful drawings attached. Thinking either a thin bezel for the bigger stone or just prongs.

Slightly different orientations/angles. The 1st pic isnt exactly to scale but the 2nd one is (as per my approx measurements)

Thoughts ? @T L or @MakingTheGrade 20210329_093413.jpg20210329_093355.jpg

Or a more traditional style could work too (mostly to scale).20210329_094336.jpg

Aww. thanks for thinking of me! I do have 3 toi et moi rings haha.

I like the second design though maybe a rose cut or rope halo? I just worry that mrb will be too flashy and distract from the subtle cool opalescence.

I like the bezeled one with the diamonds on the band, but I'd only put a couple diamonds on each side because it's too much for the stones. Actually, CS on the band would be lovely!

I love those stones, so anything you do will rock!

I actually would skip colored melee but that's just me. The opalescence is so subtle that I worry bright colored stones would wash it out.

Also - the stones you got are insanely beautiful - may I ask where you got them?

Thank you for posting examples! I have a pear vanadium chrysoberyl and considering a triangular violet spinel to make bypass bracelet or ring. Best luck with your plans; I'll be following your progress!

Yeah after doing some bad photoshops to get ideas I agree that colored melee might not be the best idea.

These are the styles I am gravitating towards the most.

Note I wouldn't have all these different shapes on the shank-it's just the first pic I found with the overall bypass style I like.

Would likely be more like this:

Another interesting idea would be to have different color prongs/bezel on the 2 stones and to make the shank itself more "curved" like this:

Ha! Love the photoshop! And I take back my CS melee idea. Those colors are too otherworldly to have CS with them.

I kinda like the "tight wrap" look with them as in the emerald ring. Did you try the old 'put them on different coins" trick to get an idea of them with gold color, such as the last idea?

I dont have the stones in hand yet (they are on their way), but I like the idea of putting them on different colored coins--so smart! I agree that I like the "tight wrap" look a little more vs the curved look since these are step cuts. I feel like the tight wrap look matches the look of emerald cut shapes more than the swoopy/curved design.

Ohhhh! Love the color and idea of a toi et moi!! So exciting!! I haven't read the whole thread yet but will this be a RHR? I ask because my RHR designs need to be easy to wear and be no fuss. Love your inspirations! Looking forward to this being complete!

Yup, would be a RHR and easy to wear would be a huge bonus :)

Then bezel set!? No question in my mind! I also think bezel define the shape so nicely. :)
Of course I am a huge bezel fan!

I have these 3 saved as potential bezel ideas. I am tempted by the bezel idea, especially for the smaller stone since it might make it closer in size to the bigger one.

Wow! Love those!!! Especially the sapphire and diamond with the prongs but bezel too (which surprises me too)!!! That’s some chunky, solidly awesome inspiration for a rhr. :)

I LOVE these. I think this will actually show off the asymmetry instead of masking it
