Tom Cruise - Ego maniac

I watched the preview for "War of the Worlds" and I have seen the posters. In big letters, it proclaims "TOM CRUISE" and then under his name, the film title. So, where are the credits for Tim Robbins (an Oscar winner) and Dakota Fanning (an Oscar nominee)? Nowhere to be found! What, aren''t Robbins and Fanning good enough to be credited next to Cruise''s name? Both Robbins and Fanning are remarkable actors. Moreover, I personally think that Robbins is more talented than Cruise. I personally find this offensive and I, too, think that Cruise''s ego is getting too big.

As much as I agree with you, I recently heard that Tom Cruise is the biggest star in the world (meaning biggest draw for the box office). That being said, I''m guessing the producers are worried that the movie may not be as well received as others and need the "draw" to make their money...unfortunately, put Tom Cruise''s name on the poster and they will come....

I totally agree that the guy has gone seriously koo-koo.

...BUT, the poster/billboard thing is just standard Hollywood marketing. Biggest star's name goes above the title...if there is more than one big star, then biggest name goes left to right. If they're all of roughly equal box-office-drawing power, they'll go alphabetical left-to-right. Tim Robbins and Dakota Fanning are probably down at the bottom with the rating and other info.....the big draws here are CRUISE and SPIELBERG, and they're probably marketing it accordingly.

But he is batsh!t crazy, that I'll give you

(And p.s. I totally agree about the acting caliber of his co-stars....Dakota Fanning at 9 or 10 can probably act circles around Cruise, and Robbins is a brilliant Renaissance man--when's the last time you saw Cruise write/direct/star in an off-broadway play?)

TC needs to grow up. Dakota Fanning is a much better actor than he is and is way more mature. I loved her in I am Sam with Sean Penn and Michelle Pfiefer. That is one of my favorite movies.
