So our wedding is in May of 2010, and we got our invites all designed. And I really want to send them to be printed now. The dates and times are finalized (we know when we have to have the final head count in, and we know where we''re staying hotel wise, etc). I don''t think there will be any details or anything that we will need to change on the invitations (going to run the "together with their families" by his parents and my mom to make sure they don''t get upset at not being named). BUT....is it too early to go ahead and print them out?

I would definitely wait. I can''t tell you how many times I thought stuff about my wedding was final and set in stone that ended up changing.

I agree - I would wait. For what reason do you want to print them so early? If there''s a discount going on or something, that''s one story - but if its just your excitement, rein it in girl! Even though things likely won''t change that you''ve had printed on the invites, they CAN and that would basically waste a ton of money to re-do them, and create a huge amount of stress for you. In my opinion, its not worth it.

I know its so hard to hold back when you''re excited to do something - I desperately want to book our hotel suite but for the best rate, I have to pay it up-front, and I just can''t commit to that yet - still being 11 months away, so many little details could change and I don''t want to be out of $250 if that''s the case.

I would definitely wait, even if none of your plans will change. It''s at minimum an 8 month wait and paper discolours, especially if it''s light coloured.

Nugget, I have nothing to add about this but your knot posts crack me up! mini threadjack over now

Nugget I have this same question... sort of. You didn''t say when you where you were having the wedding though. Will a lot of guests have to come from far away? Will it be a DW? I ask because I''m trying to figure out when to send out our invititations and I''m having a destination wedding in Italy in May 2010. I have a couple options that I''m considering for them and the save the dates have already gone out. Does anyone have any opinions?

My wedding is local, not a lot of OOT and in May of 2010. I''m not planning on sending them out until March, but I just want to print them. There''s some embellishments I want to do with them as well.

I agree with everyone that says you should wait. Although I understand the desire to cross something off the wedding to-do list, there''s still the variable that some detail of the wedding could change and the risk of the quality of the product suffering from sitting around for a long time. Why risk having to redo a project when you can just wait?

i would wait until this fall. and in the mean time, order a bunch of sample invitations and see if you still really love your original as much!

I agree, just wait. I actually think with wedding stuff it''s best to wait till the last minute so that you don''t have time to change your mind.

*Grumbleandsignandpout* Okay I guess I''ll wait. I did go to a local printing shop and have them print out a test sheet of the invite so I could see what it looked like printed. Good thing I did because it needed to be lightened a bit, and the printer lady said that there isn''t enough space for a bleed and the borders are too close for cutting.
