Top 20 Update time!

I''d love to hear what''s new in your lives! How about an update from our long time LIW''s?

I''ll start:

Mr. Man is loving his job and we have really been enjoying North Florida. (The fall weather is a great change from how it was in Miami!) I miss my old job in Miami but still feel lucky for even having a job in this economy. We’ve started looking at houses but it is merely on a viewing level. I have told him that while I love him, I am not going to buy a house with him until there is a wedding date set. We have been living our lives together for a while now and I really would like this next step to happen when we are “officially” committing ourselves to each other. So, we are planning on seriously starting to look this summer. (whoo-hoo!)

We haven’t made any new friends up here yet, which is frustrating. It is so much harder to do when you aren’t in school!

Now that he has a stable job and is out of school, he is able to really start planning on the future, which is great. His parents came down to visit and his mother bought us two toasting flutes as an engagement present! Haha. I told her that she better take them back home with her because we would use them before we got engaged!

His birthday was a couple of weekends ago and I surprised him with a “romantic weekend in New Orleans” little did he know that it wouldn’t be romantic at all. I surprised him with 10 of his friends flying in from all over to spend his birthday with him. It was an amazing weekend and he even cried! (which is a big deal because he NEVER cries!)

Through this waiting process, I never sat down and gave him a timeline. I think I would have if I felt like he was prolonging our engagement for reasons that I thought were not valid, but luckily we’ve been pretty much on the same page. We just talked about what we wanted and when we wanted it. For so long we were wanted to get out ducks in a row and now everything is there. It’s a very exciting time for us and I know that soon I will be able to make an “I’m engaged” thread of my own!

Just wanted to give a brief (actually not so brief) update! Although I don’t post much I do lurk quite a bit and keep close tabs on how you all are doing. Congrats to all the recently engaged ladies! I’m very happy for all of you!

Now.... any other updates, ladies??????

I wish I had an exciting update, but life is pretty normal right now My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 years and 7 months, and we just started renting a house in the suburbs. I''m in a master''s program for public administration and am working full time (journalism), so the social life is a little lacking and that''s okay. I totally know what you mean when you say that making friends is a lot harder when you''re not in school. My grad school classmates all work full time in city government so I haven''t made any friends there. I''ll cross my fingers that we both find friends soon

PS: I''m #4 on the LIW list I believe.

I''m glad to hear things are going well for you Kayakqueen83 and news_girl!

I don''t really have much of an update. He has had the ring to almost 5 months, with no hint of any type of proposal on the horizon. We have tons of great proposal opportunities coming up, but I don''t think he is planning anything yet. We are going to South Carolina to visit my folks in about 3 weeks. We are also taking a weekend in New York after that. In December it will be our 3 year anniversary and he has the weekend off so we may go to Disney or something. I can''t stop myself from imagining all these wonderful proposals that could happen, but if I''m being totally honest with myself, I don''t think it will happen for me this year. I''m trying not to be impatient and just let things happen, and its getting easier as time passes.

I hope more of the Top 20 give there updates, because I love reading them!

Oh my god, I''m a top 20 now. Whoa. Well, the diamond was shipped off Monday to Whiteflash to get the setting made, last night SO asked me how I would like to be proposed to (we decided he needs to do acrobatics wearing boots that make smoke to spell out ''will you marry me''

). So I''d say things are moving along quite well!

Goodfun I hope he''s trying to throw you off or something, those all sound like good opportunities!

LOL, I had to check the list to see if I was in the Top 20 yet! With all of the engagements lately, I wasn''t sure.

Alas, I''m at 24. But I''ll post a quick update anyway, hijacking this to be more like a Top 25. Muahahaha.

We haven''t been talking about it all that much lately as SO''s been working practically 24/7 (literally til 9-10 at night, poor guy). It has come up a few times in passing, mostly him telling me about conversations with other people & telling them it will be ''soon'' (damn boy soon!). I''m pretty sure it will happen by the spring, which isn''t that far away. I just need to be patient...

I did send him a few more ideas - a couple of stones and a setting. I realized that what I sent him awhile ago was on the more expensive side and I wanted to make sure he didn''t think I expected that - he really cares about the ring, probably more than I do, but I''d rather something more affordable sooner. So I sent him the Petite Open Cathedral (I believe another LIW was looking at that too! It''s gorgeous!) and a few stones under 1 ct, still H&A. I am not even entirely sure if he''ll go the online route, but I kind of hope he does.

Things are good with us overall, just a big lack of quality time together. That will improve around January, though.

Er...not that there''s anything to report. Been living together for just over 2 months now, and I''ve been working on turning our flat into a home on whatever is tighter than a shoestring budget (currently I''m the only one making money--James has started a for-now job but won''t actually bring any money home until the end of November, which will be me paying for everything for 3 months, which sucks!). Am currently painting our living room and it is looking fabulous--have to finish today! Um, other than that, we''re waiting for J''s paycheck to come in so we can have some money to save up. We''ve talked and I think we''re going to get a car before we start saving for a ring, which is fine by me! I hate not having a car. We''ll get something used (but a reliable make and model!) so it won''t break the bank, and then maybe we''ll be able to finally put some money aside for a ring.

Ok, back to my painting!

Number 11 checking in!

I just started a new job on Monday and I love it, but I have been so busy over the last couple of weeks that I''ve had pretty much zero PS time. Boo...

We moved up to Portland, OR in July and have both secured employment. Right now we''re trying to just enjoy life and get settled and then we''ll see about engagement (we''re tentatively thinking sometime next summer-ish). Frankly, I''ve been too busy to be worried about it! It does seem like everyone asks us about it, though. My new boss just asked me the other day if we have a wedding date set. LOL.

I''ll bite!

I was #9 when I last looked at the List, and I am anticipating being there for a while. My cat and I moved in with my sweetie in June of this year and we are doing well. We''ve been working on managing three rental homes together. He is determined to pay down his debts before engagement, and I want to get my masters degree finished, so we have our own immediate goals right now. Speculating on next year, my best guess is that there will be a proposal coming toward the end of the year, maybe late summer at the soonest. I am already squirreling away funds in a savings account for a wedding - planning ahead is never a bad thing!
