Haven''t posted about my waiting experience in a few days!!

Well, I am still very much LIW and he is enjoying it so much.

Background: The ring is ready. The ring needs to be picked up from the jeweller. (It has been ready for quite a few weeks). We just celebrated our 5 year anniversary nearly 2 weeks ago and nothing...

I just had the following conversation with him (I am at work and he is running errands and working from our apartment):

Me: "please don''t torture me anymore"

Him: "you only have a little longer to wait and if you start trying to ruin surprises like you always do you will be given a time penalty"

Me: "but I am a first born Type A Capricorn lawyer - my role in life is to ruin surprises - you know i hate them"

Him: [Laughing sadistically] "I am off to buy a kebab for lunch"

he is so mean mean mean... how am i going to cope??!!

Plus, I''ve got a whole lot of plans lined up with girlfriends this week (after work) and he isn''t involved. Then he is spending the weekend down at the beach for a bucks weekend. Doesn''t leave much time to do something special...

Oh, you poor thing! If he''s trying to make you think there''s no time to do it soon, maybe that''s how he''s going to surprise you?

I''m also a first-born lawyer, although not a Capricorn... and I love surprises!!! I never ruin a surprise, and I can''t understand why anyone would do that to themselves!

You have to admit, he''s being mean in the cutest way...!

Haha! It seems like your bf is really enjoying toying with you!
Although I can definitely see how it''s not so fun to be in your shoes...
Anything you can torture him back with?

Good luck bearing with it!

He he... I had thought that Gwendolyn, but I don''t want to start getting all excited and "suspicious" if nothing is going to come of it this weekend!

He has been running around telling various people about our "near" engagement though and even asked a good friend to be the MC at our wedding (we had a very big night on the weekend at the opening of this friend''s new bar in the city and he got quite merry and decided to share the good news). He is so naughty! By the time he gets around to officially proposing, everyone will already know!!

I know... its a terrible thing! I just think its the control-freak in me. This whole "surprise engagement" thing has been a real test for me in terms of letting go. Given that I have ZERO clue as to what he has planned, I think it will be impossible for me to ruin the surprise anyway!

He is very cute in his meanness, that I agree with!!

Ha Isyama - have considered how I could torture him in return. I''ve thought about accepting the ring and then saying "I''ll give you my answer in a few weeks"...

But the truth is that I am head over heels and I know I''ll just be so relieved and happy that I''ll say "YES" a hundred times over and won''t have it in me to draw it out!!

LOL! That would be too funny! (Well not to him...)
Maybe you can say that with just enough dramatic pause before giving your real answer!

Oh, I FEEL your pain, Sassee! BF purchased the ring over four weeks ago, and it should be ready any day now, and the wait is TORTURE! And he doesn''t even have the ring yet, but I know it''s coming and I JUST CANNOT BE PATIENT!

Hang in there, I''m sure the wait will pay off and you will be elated when it does happen. And try not to ruin the surprise--I do the same thing, and BF keeps saying that every time I bring it up he''s going to add two weeks onto the wait--the horror!

(I''m also a first-born, and I was nearly a lawyer but I dropped out to become a teacher. Close enough, though!)

Ha ha ha!! Yes - I think there are distinct personality types that go into certain professions, and a lot of us are not the kind of people to enjoy the "ecstasy" (more like agony) of waiting for a "SURPRISE!!!"

And we picked out the stone in May, so I''ve been waiting a LONG time for this ring now. In fact, it has been so many moons since the last time I saw the stone, I am embarrassed to say I have no real recollection of it (its a cushion and its pretty) and I certainly can''t conceptualise the setting etc! So in that respect, it WILL be a surprise because the ring will be a shock to me!!

Today''s phone call was:

Him: "Are you getting excited?"

Me: "About what?"

Him: "It could happen any day now"

He is REALLY playing with me!! And loving every minute of it too!
