Tour Companies or DIY activities

My FI and I are going to Hawaii (Oahu) for our wedding moon and I was wondering if it would be more cost-effective for us to book our activities through a tour company or do it ourselves? On our list of top things we want to do is to go snorkeling and visit the Pearl Harbor memorial. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I don''t know about cost-effective, but it would be worth it to me to pay extra to have the freedom to come and go as I pleased, and for spontaneity. Surely there are other places you would want to go? I would rent a car. Will you be staying in Waikiki? Hanauma Bay is by far the most popular snorkeling spot for tourists, but is a good 30-45 minutes east of Waikiki without traffic. Pearl Harbor is in the other direction unfortunately, maybe another 30-45 minutes west of Waikiki.

Hi! I generally go with a tour company if I''ve never been to a particular place before. If I''ve been there before, I opt for DIY. Some tour companies have very regimented schedules, which you might not want on your honeymoon.
