I am a frequent lurker and much less frequent poster! But I am quite excited about the transformation of my engagement ring from something a bit ordinary to something amazing and I thought I would share the making of my ring with the Pricescope community!

The story - so we had my engagement ring made a couple of years ago now. It was not exactly what I wanted, but it was all we could afford at the time as we were both students. Here is a link to my original engagement ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/search/

I have only been wearing the ring a little over a year (engaged September 2012, married March 2013) and something about it still bothered me, although I wasn't sure what I wanted the ring to look like until I found this picture:

This then led me on the journey to finding a suitable jeweller who hand makes jeweller and is located in Australia, which was not an easy task. I went to a jeweller in Perth and there design drawings were amazing! Their previous work is amazing, but they were crazy expensive and their rings with any sort of pave where a little ordinary and I was not convinced they would get it right. This led me to lots of googling and I stumbled across a jeweller by the name of AE Jewellery Design in Sydney. Got a quote, which was half of the jewellery in Perth and their pave work looked to be of a reasonable standard and I decided to give them a shot.

Fast forward to now and my ring is in the process of being transformed into something amazing! The jeweller sends my photo updates via text message and I am going to share these with you.

First up, the halos cut out with the diamonds

Hope you all enjoy the transformation of my ring! I will update with photos as I receive them.

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

Is the pink gold pave going to have pink diamond melee? I may haw missed that.

I love a halo three stone. This should be lovely.

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

It's going to be beautiful! :appl: I love the mixed metal look! Keep us posted!

For reference... do you have any pic of your original e-ring? It would be interesting to see it! :wavey:

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

Apologies for the slow response - blame different countries and time zones!
Niel - thanks for asking, I completely forgot to include details of the diamonds! Yes, the melee around the pink diamonds will also be pink diamonds.
Stats on the diamonds:
Centre diamond is an oval, 0.96ct (7.7mmx5.5mm from memory), F, VS2.
Side diamonds are pear, 0.165tcw, 7P, SI1.
My ring size is a 4, which is why I will end up with awesome finger coverage :appl:

Unfortunately the ring will not be completed until late January as my jeweller is on holidays for a few weeks from Christmas, so the photos I have posted so far are all I have as that is the current state of the ring! Waiting is going to kill me!

I will post a picture of my original e-ring later when I have access to a computer that isn't a work one! But I am pretty sure there are some photos in the link I posted to my thread on my original e-ring.

Holy smokes! This new ring is going to be amazing. Can't wait to see it finished. Can't recall seeing a pink halo around pink stones in recent memory, so looking forward to how this turns out! Happy holidays, hope it goes by fast for you ;))

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

I agree that it looks like it is going to be spectacular! It will be so wonderful for our PS members in Australia if there is a master craftsman there who can make excellent handmade rings!

I'll copy and post a picture of your original ring. It is lovely, too, but the new one is going to be amazing! Love the pink diamonds!!! Wow!

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

Your ring design looks spectactular. I was in Sydney a few weeks ago and looked at a few pink diamonds. Didn't purchase but they were just gorgeous. Look forward to seeing the ring progress.

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

I love your new design and your first ring was also pretty! Pink diamonds! Wow!

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

Thanks for all the lovely comments! I do hope the ring turns out to be amazing. I have taken a gamble with the jeweller, but so far I am glad I took the gamble.

And thanks Diamondseeker for posting pics of my original e-ring.

There seems to be a few Australian members on Pricescope. I do believe we have good jewellers here In Australia, they just haven't been found yet!

A while back now, I went to get a valuation on my ring and the person that was recommended to me was in the Trust Building on the corner of King St and Castlereagh St in the Sydney CBD and there was all these jewellery benches - they were small rooms with enough space for a bench or two and you can see the people sitting there making/repairing jewellery. And these are all the people that do the work for jewellery stores. So when it came to finding a jeweller for my current project I remembered all these benches and I found one I thought I would get in contact with based on the work on their website. And so far I have been impressed - prompt with responses, answer all my questions, let me know what will work and wont work, etc. So I am quite excited to have potentially found a jeweller or future projects, with the next one being the setting of a 2.5ct transitional cut diamond!

Oh and when I dropped my ring off the jeweller showed me pictures of a 16ct diamond ring he had made - yes 16ct!! It looks enormous!

Anyways, I have digressed. Once again thank you for all the lovely comments and I will keep you all posted with progress of the ring as I receive updates.

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

Hey Zoe,

The wait must be killing you! I love the look of your ring I can't wait to see the final product

I work it Pitt St so thanks for posting about the jewellers you visited, and 16ct! If only haha.

I considered using Cerrone to make my setting when I bought a diamond this year but I couldn't decide what I wanted, and I felt even though I have heard they do beautiful work I was probably paying extra for the name as well. I ended up with a plain solitaire, but eventually I want to halo it so its great to know I have options here in Australia :)

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

Any updates? Do you have your gorgeous ring yet? :naughty:

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

I thought I would provide an update now that I have had the ring for a little bit. Warning, there will be a picture overload! I will start with photos that the jeweller sent me while the ring was being made.

Re: Transformation of a plain 3 stone ring to something amaz

And now for the professional photo.....the ring is everything I had hoped for and more! I did have some small concerns during the making process, mainly around the haloes and that they had too much metal, but the photos are magnified a significant amount and in real life it is very dainty. And gosh, it sparkles like crazy and looks huge on my hand! Way bigger than I ever expected considering the centre oval is only 0.96ct!

And now for a few really terrible hand photos....it is crappy rainy weather here at the moment.
